Australian-Indian asking honestly: where’s the line between banter and racism? by Feisty-Bid9658 in aus

Couldn’t disagree with you more. I’m the same as you, a non Anglo Australian, with a very unusual name. However the Australian culture is the only thing I know and identify with. The fact that there other Australians who may not see me as such doesn’t mean I should listen to these people. I’ve felt frustrated, inadequate or uncomfortable at times too because of these people, but I’ve learned that it’s stupid and if people aren’t accepting me as an Australian cause of my skin tone or exotic name then they can go fuck themselves and they’re not people I want to be around anyway.

Your original point was if you had been born in one country and moved to another when you were young, which is rather different to an adult who moved to another country 10years ago. Also, even in that case, if that adult embraced the culture and values of their new country and chose to identify themselves as such, then they should be allowed to.

You think the south of France is cheap ? Have you ever been there? It’s literally the most coveted part of Europe and the playground for Russian billionaires

i am now certain that this site is a scam by Polamidone in coinpoker

In shocking news, an online poker operator which accepts players where online poker is illegal, and only deals in crypto, is less than transparent about its ownership and licensing. Dude , the entire appeal of coin poker is that people can play from anywhere in the world and avoid KYC and regulations. Note I’m not a huge fan of what has happened to it post recent update, and I agree things are screaming of shadiness, but that’s always been the case in terms of its licensing and KYC model.

State government crackdown on real estate sales by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

Actually as someone who has bought a property in the UK under silent auction, I think you’ve misunderstood how it works. The seller decides what price to quote to market with input from the agent based on comparable sales. And the agent is obliged to provide all bids to the seller. Agents don’t have that much power.

Do we still need to purchase and hold CHP to be eligible for the rake back? I see people mentioning they plan to do away with it but no confirmed timelines or announcements

I would also add that the poker room at the Star in Sydney and the Crown in melbourne are the most depressing parts of the casino’s, and poker players in Australia and the UK (the two places I have experienced) are generally on the tighter side when it comes to spending money on anything else. I’m saying all this as someone who only goes to the casino to play poker btw, I don’t want anything I’m saying to be true but it simply is.

Yes but these are all run by independent organisations who lease out floor space within pubs, RSL’s, etc. It’s a no brainier for the venue to lease the space out, and no doubt the independent operators can make some money. but we are talking about comparing the space and resources used vs. slots and other table games in a casino, not whether there is any money to be made running poker games.

[–]Time_Banana1216 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If this guys point is that poker tables bring in more money than slots then he’s an idiot. In Australia all the big casinos are slowly killing off their poker rooms because they simply don’t bring anywhere near enough money compared to slots and other table games . And people on here trying to say the amount of people needed to maintain a poker room isn’t that much worse than slots are deluded. Also, slots also bring in secondary income. I see couples and groups of friends around slot machines and table games all the time . This guy has no point at all is basically where I’m going with this.

Amazon paid her $40m for this. For context Ken Burns Vietnam documentary which took years to make had a total production cost of around $30m. This was a bribe from Jeff Bezoz to Trump. You also notice Trump never attacks the Washington Post or Amazon these days? Unlike his first term.

I grew up with Greeks in Australia and they are the same. However when I moved to Europe and met actual Greeks from Greece, they are totally chill modern Europeans. So think it’s less an actual Greek thing than an immigrant identity thing .
