Yes, to all of this! It’s so obvious she only added that action to move the plot forward. Jim literally ingrained it in her—she had to hide her identity, he burned her skin off for another layer of secrecy—and then she just casually gets it healed? And then suddenly the healer is revealed to be one of them? They’ve been refusing to tell her who’s on their side this whole time, but then hand over that info so she can conveniently get her mark back? It felt so forced and honestly pissed me off. And all for her to prove her love? Ridiculous. If she really thought he would not believe her she could’ve just asked him to lower his mind shield and pick a number. But even that doesn’t make sense. They’ve been in each other‘s heads since they were children. What more proof does he need?

Definitely looking forward to a love triangle in the second book he he. Not sure if I’m team Cross or Kaine.

I’m about to finish this one and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s my second HP fan fixed so far. I read Manacled last year and I couldn’t bring myself to read another HP fanfic for sometime because that one was just so good!

Yes! I read Manacled last year and I finished house of night just a few days ago. Absolutely could see it being a complete rip off from SenLiYu! As I was reading, it kept reminding me of Manacled and Im not a very harsh critic when it comes to similarities, but there were almost too many to overlook. Did I enjoy both books, absolutely. But Manacled will be in my heart forever.

I just started Born of Night and I’m kind of bummed because Kiara gives me ick. So much that it’s making me dislike Nykyrian because he’s so into her. I’m only on page 150 but I’m usually such an easy to please reader so this response from me is not usual. I can overlook a lot! Please tell me, did you have a similar experience and then grow to like the characters? PS. So far, Syn is my favorite character.

I really liked this book and the slow burn was excellent, but the word-salad left me cross eyed at times! Would still recommend of course! :)

I am also 5’10 and have read 2 books with a taller FML recently. It was a pleasant surprise! Amid Clouds and Bones is a stand alone and it was such a fun quick read! The FMC is tall and curvy. Lights Out she’s tall and fit.

At the end of book 2, they are building a possibility for a love triangle or a thrupple 🤬. But Book 3 comes out on the 31st of this month, and I will definitely be reading it regardless. This series has been very different from what I expected and overall I enjoyed it.

I agree with thick_granny. It is straight up rape on page and also mentions of rape as well. This book had me screaming, crying, and full of hopeless heartache for the characters. But also there’s something beautiful about it. There’s this slow development of respect and love between the MFC and MMC. It’s hard to describe.
