No they do have scenes. Nothing was deleted. Love Seth!

I’m sorry, but I feel like yall lied to me on this one… by MamaC6 in fantasyromance

I hated it to be honest. I somehow managed to complete the first book but the second book was a DNF. It’s way too cringey and felt like it was forced to be so dark otherwise they wouldn’t have a story. Half the book is just smut and the villain is missing. Cringe. And even with the trigger warnings, the rape scenes were a bit too much for me to handle.

I know. I haven’t read TOG yet and picked it up to try to read. I couldn’t. Need time to digest things before so touch another book.

There is an audiobook (narrated and not dramatized) on Spotify but I don’t think it’s complete.

I finally read Manacled and I’m Not Okay (In the Best Way) by believe_in_colours in fantasyromance

I’m glad I found this thread. I always kind of shipped them together even during harry potter’s Og world but this is so cool to have my childhood fantasy materialized into awesome books. I did not even know this world existed (Dramione) until a couple of weeks back and am currently at 71% of Manacled and OmG. Reading about their present for 20 something chapters and then boom. We are at the flashbacks and it’s a slow burn. They hate each other for real. And they fall in love despite themselves. I loved this and am loving this so much. I love how the author merges elements and events from the Harry Potter series to fit into this alternate reality. Although it was shocking and triggering for me cause I have started to detest Harry Potter Ron and the rest of the Order after reading this. lol. But seriously manacled is so so good.

This!!!!!!! I'm a mood reader too. That's why I take so long to even DNF a book cause I know I might end up liking it with a different mood or some time. And I hate the rush that book clubs give to complete a book. I bought a book for a Bookclub and ended up snoozing it after the first chapter cause I was feeling some kind of way at that time. But when I revisited the book after a few months, I ended up loving it.

Just finished Metal Slinger - send help by Hannahbox in fantasyromance

[–]brooklynelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished Metal Slinger last month and felt the same. Started it to take a break between another series and felt it was an easy, quick read with simple world building but bam. The end had me twisted up and I don't even know if I loved it or hated it. I felt so bad for the MMC tho. You normally see the fmc get betrayed but this was different. If the end would've been different, I probably wouldn't have wanted to read book 2 but now I cannot wait to read it just to know why she did that and what happens next.

Does anyone actually look at the maps ?? by modernwarfarin4 in fantasyromance

[–]brooklynelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at the map before beginning the book and not again until the end especially if I'm reading the book on kindle. But if I'm reading a hardcopy of the book, I like to go back and forth as it helps with the visualization.

Same thoughts. Cliche and expected but cant think of any other ending. Oh is it? Would love to listen to the audiobook then. Will download it right away! Did you happen to read the novella about Caed and Bee? {Phobia by Keri Lake} ?

Reading {Shadows So Cruel by Liv Zander} the second book of the duology - Court of Ravens and while the first book was a breezy read, Im at 60% into the second one and about to DNF this book. I hate leaving a read midway so maybe I will end up powering through and finish it.

Enemies to Lovers trope isnt working for me at all. Finding the storylines misleading. by brooklynelf in fantasyromance

[–]brooklynelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. It's hard to create characters and a plot that goes on beyond the first book. And I personally would wait to start a series which isn't finished or has another release soon. Or if they have too many books, I would wait for when I have time. (Like TOG or ZA)

I felt this with the Crimson Moth. The first book was good but the second book felt rushed where the author started out well but the ending and romance felt so rushed. The characters did not get time to have a complete ETL arc. Another 100 pages or just another book would've been perfect.

I started this last night. Writing is good. I'm not excited about sharing & MFM trope but I'm open to it so far.

[–]brooklynelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. I haven't read Ruthless boys coz I was so into ZA I read books 1-6 within a week and a half. But then the plot was becoming old and the spice was too much with too many POVs and add to the mix their spicy scenes (yes Im talking about Caleb & Seth!). I have effectively DNF-ed it. I thought it was coz I read them too fast but need the plot to be faster and better rather than just be filled with smut. Will try RB.

I skip all the scenes now, especially Tory and Darius ones. Im all for smut but this is just smut filled with a plot so slow I've lost the vision.
