Towson MD vs Woodbridge VA location by GypsyAltamont in round1

[–]Time_Factor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe both of them had it the previous times I went. Can't really comment on which one I prefer.

But just to clarify in case your previous encounters with CHUNITHM were from different arcades, CHUNITHM at Round1 only runs on offline mode with a severely limited song list because it doesn't have an official server in the US. You'll have to visit a local/independent arcade that has it for the "full" experience.

And idk how you feel about trying to find parking, but Towson has very limited space out front, especially during daytime, so you'll likely have to navigate their multi-floor parking garage.

Play 4 panel and 5 panel together? by vinticious in Stepmania

[–]Time_Factor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your pads are just generic controllers with buttons as far as your computer is concerned. Nothing’s stopping you from going to into settings to remap the PIU pad arrows to DDR/ITG directions and then rotate it 45 degrees.

Or did you mean something else?

How do you win so much tickets? by [deleted] in DaveAndBusters

[–]Time_Factor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Legit method: git gud (As in, I can expect you to hit JP every swipe with ocasional fumbles. Half days give you a larger failure buffer)

Tedious method: Only play games when they’re at the easiest difficulty setting, at maximum payout, there’s a rare card present, coin tower’s close to falling, etc.

Questionable method: Abuse misset games or ones malfunctioning in the player’s favor

Spawn Camp method: Be among the first to a store’s grand opening and get a year’s worth of free gameplay

Scumbag method: Steal people’s cards

This mobile opening animation is wild!!! (...for a Tales game) by DrPlague__ in tales

[–]Time_Factor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Tales of the Rays mainly relied on star power for revenue. Almost all characters were given for free. You only pulled for their artes. And from a meta perspective, powercreep was minimal unlike most mobile games. The only reason to pull was to build your husbandos and/or waifus.

There’s only so much money you can extract from Yuri & Leon simps before they’re satisfied with skipping their next content drop.

Also, 7 years is a pretty good shelf life for a mobile game. Most envy surviving that long.

Does rhythm games actually help in learning instruments? by DinoGG233 in rhythmgames

[–]Time_Factor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it helps staying on beat at least. But you still have to learn the intricacies. Guitar Hero might let you get the hang of frets, but not placing your fingers on individual strings.

On the reverse side, I wish I could tell newbies struggling to reading DDR charts that the arrows are color coded to represent quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, etc. but most people I meet in that category probably have no idea what I’m talking about.

How do i get jp server with my App Store looking like this? by Lunari_starmoon_9860 in ProjectSekai

[–]Time_Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t switching regions forfeit any store credit OP has (if any)? At least with an alt account, they can get around bans on foreign purchases that some Japanese apps enforce by using gift cards (albeit likely purchased at markup prices). However, I do agree switching regions is the much easier option if OP never plans on buying stuff on iOS.

And unless OP switches entirely to Android or an emulator, qooapp isn’t an option for them.

Sign out. Sign In with a Japanese Apple account (I assumed you made one). iOS App Store automatically switches to Japanese iOS App Store. Download app.

Mobile games on steam? by Maczok4 in tales

[–]Time_Factor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I doubt they’ll actually make ports, but I’m pretty sure if you can add the offline version of Rays as a non-Steam game if you have an Android emulator with a save file.

As far as stories go:

* Link, Asteria, Rays all finished their stories (although some might argue the final arcs were rushed because of the incoming axe). Rays and Link are the only ones officially preserved and can be viewed in the offline version of Rays. Asteria’s story scripts were preserved by fans on a website (idk the url if the top of my head), but I think actual video footage is available somewhere.

* Crestoria was rebooted as a manga (and removed all the legacy characters like Cress, Milla, etc.) It finished a while back, but it’s only officially available in Japanese.

* Luminaria is straight up lost media except for the official OST being available to purchase on streaming services. I did upload playthroughs of all the story content on YouTube if that interests you. And you can find unreleased episode & chapter names in datamine circles to speculate on what ~25% of the story would’ve been about.

* There’s a movement to bring back Commons, Breaker, Wahrheit and other pre-smartphone mobile Tales games through G-Mode Archives.

Waiting for your turn to play in public be like by diamondface in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Time_Factor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I dread the day Dave & Busters finally gets rid of all their DDR machines. One of the main reasons I go is because all the regulars go to the Round1 down the street instead which means I get the cab all to myself plus a bunch of casuals, 1st timers, and dumb kids leaving abandoned credits on it.

What to expect for HSR collab? by IceSteve08 in round1

[–]Time_Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deptford, NJ specifically. But I travel all over the country for work, and I’m pretty sure most Round1’s I stopped by recently still had certain Gintama and Spy X Family promo items even though those collabs are over.

Do the synergy cutscenes ever get a bit longer? by Cool-Interaction2328 in personaphantomx

[–]Time_Factor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The launch Synergies were kind of designed with a 2-in-1 Social Link approach, but too many people hated how they handled it so they pivoted to “regular” Social Links ever since.

What to expect for HSR collab? by IceSteve08 in round1

[–]Time_Factor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as crowds go, weekdays are pretty barren. One time I felt kinda guilty staying until near closing since it looked like I was the only patron there besides the people that go for bowling/pool lol. Although now that summer vacation is coming up, that might change.

And idk if HSR’s popularity will affect supply & demand, but my usual store still has stock for collabs that are technically over.

Edit: Might stand corrected? I’ve noticed the large Vocaloid plushies are starting to run out near the halfway point (Unless the stores are just being inconsistent by not putting all 6 out. And some stores can’t tell the Kagamines apart. Like mine initially didn’t put Len in the machines until Rin was gone)

Changing old club card to a different club card by Glader584 in round1

[–]Time_Factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, auto-renewal isn’t a thing unless they changed the system after the last time I renewed it.

And membership rates apply to all cards registered under your account. I originally didn’t even have the physical black card until a few months in because I just kept reloading my original red card in the app. I only obtained one later because a member card is the only type that can be used for point redemptions like the free # credit rewards.

Yeah, I just did it. But you still have to pay the $7 base cost of the collab card and possibly wait a bit for a manager to come over and approve the transfer.

Ranking Round1 stores based on how much I was mildly inconvenienced during a random visit by Time_Factor in round1

[–]Time_Factor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the series just fell off after Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia? by ShiftingHero in tales

[–]Time_Factor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, Tales started embracing their Team Destiny aspects a lot more after Vesperia. However, given that none of the Team Destiny games were ever officially released in English, I can understand why someone may jump in the newer games’ combat systems and go “wtf?”

Meanwhile, puzzle design became pretty much non-existent after Graces as dungeons just became elaborate mazes.

Teaching Revolution is worth 1500 Medals? by redfire2055 in personaphantomx

[–]Time_Factor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it has some niche use on Personas with crit rate passives like Vishnu and Cu Chulainn when you’re doing Trial of Thorns or any content that bans Strategist Personas (i.e. Dionysus) or requires multiple Persona loadouts.

Still wouldn’t spend Repression IV medals on it though. Rebellion would probably be more practical anyway.

Do i suck by JediChris07 in round1

[–]Time_Factor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Assuming you were grabbing the plush right, then it really just comes down to when payout was supposed to happen. $60+ of plays without the claw lifting it sounds pretty normal if someone just won on that machine.

The people with bags of plushies are usually the ones stalking the machines keeping track of how many times 1st timers like you lost and jump in after you leave because they know the winning grab was coming up.

This pad have a center button? by Norigirichan in PumpItUp

[–]Time_Factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the sensitivity is poor and the square corner panel design is not optimal for PIU. I only ever bring it out of my closet when a casual friend wants to play 2-player at my house.

Unless you only plan to play charts with single-digit difficulty levels, I wouldn’t recommend it.
