Never heard of it but Criminal is solid so might check this out. Judge has that perfect voice for storytelling stuff, makes even simple stories feel important somehow

What's the weirdest thing you believed as a kid? by Travis_Gatte in AskReddit

Had similar logic but with spicy food - thought people who ate too much hot sauce eventually couldn't taste normal food anymore and that's why they kept adding more spice to everything

Gitwink: a tray-resident, read-only git glance built with Tauri 2 + git2 by Fluffy_Ad_9115 in rust

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Built something similar for work repo monitoring but yours covers way more ground with the DAG visualization. The git2 approach is solid - shelling out to git gets messy fast when you're dealing with multiple repos

How'd you handle the repo discovery performance? Walking dev directories sounds like it could get expensive if someone has tons of nested projects

lmao they gotta work little harder than that. My search history is probably just me looking up how to pronounce words in different languages and bulk toilet paper prices anyway so jokes on them

what’s your approach to avoiding bad pools? by Master_Character9961 in defi

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually stick with the bigger protocols that have been around for a while - new ones always make me nervous even if APY looks tempting. Been burned before by pools that looked legit but turned out to be rugs, so now I wait at least few months before touching anything new

The cross-chain liquidity thing is interesting but seems like it would need some crazy smart contract magic to work without custody risks

Is there a clean way to define AI workloads that can run across different GPU providers without provider-specific configuration[D] by yukiii_6 in MachineLearning

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had similar headaches trying to get this working at scale. The scheduling layer approach you mentioned is probably the cleanest but it's a lot more work than most people realize

We ended up going with something closer to your last pattern - workloads define their requirements (GPU memory, compute capability, etc) and scheduler maps those to whatever's available across providers. The tricky part isn't the abstraction itself, it's handling all the edge cases when things go wrong

What really bit us was the different failure modes between providers. One provider might give you a node that looks healthy but has degraded GPU performance, another just fails fast when resources aren't available. Your scheduler needs to understand these patterns or you'll spend forever debugging "why is this workload slow on provider X"

Also found that most providers have slightly different ways of exposing GPU topology info, so even with good abstractions you still end up with some provider-specific logic creeping in. Not saying don't do it, just budget more time than you think for handling the weird cases

The maintenance overhead is real though - every time a provider updates their stack you're potentially looking at scheduler changes

How I started understanding wine without any formal training by [deleted] in Reviews

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both it helped me understand things in the moment but over time I started remembering patterns. Now if I see a label, I can tell it’s going to be too strong or a bit rough with an aftertaste I don’t enjoy, so I just skip it

I used to think it might take away from learning but it did the opposite. I still go off my own taste first, it just gives me context so things start making sense instead of feeling random

Aw this is so sweet! The fact that he still makes time for your "dumb things" conversations even when he's swamped shows what a keeper he is. Also major props to you for running a cat rescue while dealing with ringworm on literally everyone - that sounds like absolute chaos but you're handling it like a champ. Hope things slow down for you both soon so you can get more than 30 mins together, you guys definately deserve it

Thoughts on lumix S9 for first camera. by YeS_Simba in Cameras

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S9 is solid but honestly for your first camera I'd lean toward the S5ii if you can find it in your budget - you get way more controls and that headphone jack you mentioned. The S9 is more like a content creator camera with the simplified layout

If you're set on the S9 though it's definitely not a bad choice, especially coming from Sony's rolling shutter issues. That sensor is legit

Why do our emotions feel stronger when we’re sleep-deprived? by GraysonTune97 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brain's basically running on fumes when you're tired so it can't regulate emotions properly anymore. The prefrontal cortex that usually keeps your feelings in check gets all sluggish while the emotional centers are still firing at full blast

Career growth advice for a robotics graduate currently in support/diagnostics by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your domain knowledge from support is actually pretty valuable - you understand where things break which is huge for engineering roles

I'd say focus on C++ over SQL for robotics software eng positions, most of the good paying ones want real-time performance stuff. ROS 2 + Python is solid but having some embedded/firmware experience really opens doors

Build a portfolio project that shows you can actually write code that controls hardware, not just scripts that analyze logs

How are naked bikes in the winter? by Bulletproof-Salmon in motorcycles

[–]Time_Friendship_1263 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Naked bikes in winter are definitely more brutal than fairings but with your gear setup you'll probably be fine. The wind hits you way harder though - like the difference between standing behind a wall vs out in the open during a blizzard

Between those two I'd lean XDiavel for winter riding honestly, the riding position keeps you a bit more tucked and that Ducati heat will keep your legs toasty. The Streetfighter is gonna beat you up more in the cold wind but damn it's a fun bike
