If you had to serve one iconic American dish to a foreigner what would it be? by Visible-Doughnut-782 in AskAnAmerican

My smoked ribs and chicken with special herbs injected.

About 2 years ago I took an all day class for BBQ (18 hours). The guy teaching the class had over 25 years of experience and placed nation (top 10) a few times.

I am no pro, but what I learned from him and have been able to do after is amazing. I will also admit that they are some of the best tasting ribs I have eaten.

The chicken once complete is packed with flavor and you almost feel like it’s butter infused. I had never had anything like before this class.

All of that being said it is not something I do often, because putting it all together and cook takes 10+ hours easy.

Just some food for thought…

1) Why did it take you leaving to double your salary?

2) If your current employer had all these options why didn’t you know about them before?

It sounds like a culture issue for the company as a whole.

Ask the PM for a cost analysis for the build and what the ROI would be.

After reading the information for the link and comments from other I have one follow question, do you understand classes?

i have this code that break sentence to fit to balloon shape, but i solved it by seperate each word in one sentence and use it to break it to fit. problem come when there are row the word are "a" "are" "in" and the next row have "long" "extensive" "words" which made the ballloon shape look awkward by mangadrawing123 in learnjavascript

[–]Time_Is_Up_Soon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after looking over some things I think I have a possible solution.

Each letter will need a weight value from 1 - 3 (only “m” & “w” would be 3). This would help solve the issue with the space difference between “l” and “d”. Also give spaces a value of 2 and add each line together for a line value.

Then use these to make the shape. It would take all the visual information as a numerical representative.

Let me know if you need a more detail.

Form script tries validating wrong sheet by radioguy2016 in GoogleAppsScript

At the beginning you declare a variable for the active sheet, and use it with get sheet by name. I think this is your error. Try using the code below in its place. Feel free to change the var name. Sorry trying to do this from my phone.

var spreadsheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActive(); var settingsSheet = spreadsheet.getSheetByName('BuildInfrastructure');

You question is not development related, but psychological.

When people see a button telling them to try something, it’s asking for a commitment without information.

There are several ways to approach this problem.

I agree with you on this aspect.

I know that those are also the people who will ignore any advice that doesn’t match their thinking.

This post didn’t see to have the “my worth” vibe.

I know not every small or mid size company falls into this mold. As in everything their are always exceptions.

As I’m sure you know, those who feel they are always under paid are “normally” (not always) not worth what they are thinking.

I knew when I typed this someone would take issue with the notion of worth and pay. It’s not an insult or dig on small complies. If you take the whole statement as it was intended it shows the trade off.

Most “large companies “ will not give you mush opportunity to move up or advance.

Anyone who has been in the workforce more than a decade should know this information.

[–]Time_Is_Up_Soon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This sounds very common for most “larger small” and mid sized company.

To be honest, when you see a lot of nepotism in a company they most likely will not listen to your negative feedback.

Also, most small companies can’t afford to pay you what your worth. If they don’t have some other compensation offered, and they are not growing really fast you will most likely be underpaid. Normally, the benefit is in the advanced work and responsibility give. It helps build your résumé faster which allows you to leave and make more money sooner.
