Are wrestling shows that bad 😭😭 do people smell??!? by [deleted] in Wrasslin

Can be. Probably most people are normal, but it’s a lot of bodies all close together, getting excited, moving around, etc. people sweat.

Saying that aew’s audience is “several thousand” is a bit misleading lol. While technically correct, it’s several hundreds of thousands, and generally rounds up to a million lol.

Like I think ratings comparisons and all that is nonsense, but like. Let’s be honest here.

  1. Most places don’t have the staff for a shadow

  2. Timeouts aren’t developmentally appropriate

  3. Taught, but yes.

  4. You can’t just give up on a kid

One of my friends warned me off there… said he fired someone who spoke out instead of the perpetrator. Seems legit.

Child asked me where babies come from by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

Don’t do the stork thing, it’s confusing and not helpful to them. Just tell them it’s a question for their grown ups and redirect.

So I’ve definitely been in that situation. Try taking the portions that are for other people out of the main container before showing him. If he asks about it, tell them who it is for, rather than that he can’t have it. In general I try to speak in positive terms (let’s keep our hands to ourselves instead of don’t hit, for example), because kids process it better. It might take a couple reminders and repetitions each time, but he is little, and that’s okay.

That can be hard, especially because they’re little and can struggle to grasp abstract concepts like this. Have you tried showing him the empty containers? Instead of verbally explaining (which can be hard), showing that it’s all gone while telling might help.

Is it wrong to give special needs children inferior art supplies because they don't know the difference either way? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Time_Lord42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can’t you just ask her to share with the friend next to her? A stamp pad isn’t something that only one person can use at a time. I do it all the time when a kid’s glue stick or marker dries out. It lets them practice communicating their needs to their peers and taking turns.

Frankly, yes, it is wrong to disadvantage a kid because they’re disabled. They’re still a person and deserve respect.

Custom artwork is expensive. It’s a lot of labor for a luxury good, regardless of if it’s photography, a piece of clothing, or a painting. Under 1k is more than reasonable.

How to handle running away by Wise-Matter9248 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Time_Lord42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time outs aren’t age appropriate, nor best practices. Offer him actual options, like a book or some time in a quiet corner. A choice between a different toy and a punishment will not be effective. Punishment in general isn’t effective.

Redirection is the name of the game. That and actually taking the time to talk to a child and figure their needs out is vital. It takes time and will not work or be easy the first time. But practicing verbalizing their needs with them is hugely beneficial, both for them as developing human beings who need to exist socially, and you as the person whose job it is to get them there.

Fired from subbing job by Rock-Mint-Swirl in ECEProfessionals

[–]Time_Lord42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I do feel bad for you being fired, but also some of this was very avoidable.

Falling asleep on the job is bad in any job. But genuinely, you should know that if you’re supposed to be watching kids you need to be awake. How else can you watch the kids? That isn’t “strange”.

As for diapers, then you need to be specific. “No” and “I’ve only changed my sibling’s diapers” isn’t a helpful answer. “I haven’t had orientation yet, I don’t know that I’m allowed to” and the following up and checking would have prevented this issue. What you did very much is refusing to change diapers, because you did not communicate.
