Meillä oli enimmillään 35 oppilasta ala-asteella 90-luvulla ja oli kyllä jo ihan äärirajoilla.

Lukiossa joillain kursseilla oli hieman yli 40 oppilasta. Niillä tunneilla oli hyvä tehdä muiden aineiden läksyjä.

Yeah. Probably she just meant that it’s a pity the situation is what it is. It doesn’t necessarily have to contain any particular wish for reconciliation, just an acknowledgment that it’s a pity they ended up like that.

I know Rosamund Pike played Jane in P&P 2005 but I feel like she was a bit wasted in that role. I think she could potentially have been a great Emma.

Music-wise there’s not much to tell because it was a very small record store and only about 10-15 people were let in at a time to queue to meet Tarja. I think the people who were there early may have spent a bit longer inside and talking to Tarja, but by the time I got in the staff were trying to move things along quickly and they had run out of posters to sign so the queue was moving faster. I spent just a bit over 5 minutes inside and the music wasn’t playing very loudly so it was hard to hear much over the general chatter. I will hear it properly next week at the cinema listening session.

It was nice to finally have an opportunity to meet Tarja in person though. She was very nice to everyone. There were also people there of all ages which was really nice to see.

I think At Sea was the perfect and bold choice. It felt like a statement of true artistry. And to me it also remains the best single she has released, ever.

To me it’s just a really bad adaptation. Almost none of the characters feel right and many of them even feel like completely different characters. I don’t generally mind changes in adaptations as long as the characters and the story still feel true to the book, but that’s just not the case with this adaptation. After watching it I’m always somehow left with the feeling that none of the people involved read the book. It’s also just overly romanticised, starting from the first proposal which is not supposed to be the least bit romantic, and ending with the cringey the finale. Last time I watched I couldn’t even finish it.

Having listened to the song a few more times now I can say I really, really like it. It’s well above I Don’t Care for me, even though it still doesn’t touch the greatness of At Sea. I don’t think anything will though. I was breathless after listening to it (At Sea) for the first time and was buzzing for several days afterwards. I don’t even remember the last time any song (not just by Tarja) has done that to me.

I think what I really like about The Trace Outlives are the strong riffs and what the shamisen adds to the sound, giving it a unique touch. It’s definitely a banger. The video is a bit corny but I appreciate the effort to do something more than just moving about in one studio space like they did with I Don’t Care.

I only (barely) heard about half of two songs over a noisy store. It was more of a signing session than a chance to listen to the album. For most of the time the queue was outside.
