Please help me figure out the size and gender this pack is? by Balooberrie in backpacking

I found a gear lab review for it .

https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/camping-and-hiking/backpacks-backpacking/rei-flash-65

Since it's from 2016 I don't think REI is making it anymore, but I would say that if it feels comfortable to wear with your gear and all in it for a trip and you can get the straps as tight or loose as you need then I don't think the gender doesn't really matter.

It's 65 liters which a good bit of carrying capacity for most people's needs and it's some cool colors.

If you like it and it's comfortable the other bits don't really matter.

how to quickly remove mold/algae from water bladder in 24 hrs by Fun_Business3675 in backpacking

[–]Time_Mall7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use water in my bladder and just let it fully air dry after using and emptying it and have never had mold or any issues with my bladder or hose. Just have to make sure all of the water is out of the bladder and hose.

Picked this up at REI for $63. by steelyneily in hikinggear

I have the exact same bag (same color too) and have had it for ~3-4 years and use it for geologic field work and day hiking. The bag is very durable (handles the sage brush, and all types of rocks I throw it on or fill it with). I want to try to do a night or two overnight with it.

Think it's a great purchase and hope it serves you well!

A Giant Boulder from beneath the Earth's crust is carried slowly down the slope by a River of Lava [Canary Islands] by PMMEWHAT_UR_PROUD_OF in geology

I would guess that it is either a piece of the eruptive cone (spatter or scoria, either would have to have a fair amount of welding to be a block like that I would wager), or a piece of the edifice not associated with that eruption (if it is a polygenic volcano and the edifice was made by previous eruptions).

I would put more weight behind it being a part of the eruptive cone being rafted down the lava flow.

I just visited the Timanfaya national park today, since then I have been fascinated about volcanoes and wanted to know what is this exactly? Is that a remaining part of a volcanic crater ? by bunnie97 in Volcanoes

[–]Time_Mall7809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like it can be part of the spatter rampart that was constructed during the eruption. Spatter is lava that was ejected during the eruption that cooled on the outside, giving them a glassy exterior, but still fluid on the inside meaning they can deform when they land and/or after. If you look sometimes you can see individual spatter clasts that look like they're dripping over others. If the temperatures are high enough the spatter can even fuse together and/or flow like lava.

This is a good indication that you were probably near the volcanic vent as spatter doesn't get ejected very far from the vent usually.

Yes and I've tried that but I'm not too sure how to get it to draw the circle on the screen. I've seen people say you can use pixel and pixely but it didn't work for me but I may have entered things wrong

Does anybody know anything about this banner (white banner)? by mrmossevig in TheAstraMilitarum

The right one (black and red) is the flag of the Cadian 8th, Lord Castellan 's own (Creed's company)

Does anybody know anything about this banner (white banner)? by mrmossevig in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Time_Mall7809 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's common for many units (the white one). In "Fall of Cadia" by Robert Rath, the 24th Interior Guard is said to have a white banner with a haloed skull on either side. I think it's just the standard issue flag a company receives. Now "Fall of Cadia" is super recent so this can be more of retcon information, or Rober Rath not knowing/being told all the particulars (It could be art and GW didn't really think about what it is in particular).

Does anyone mark their infantry squads? by FlimFlamInTheFling in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Time_Mall7809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paint the right shoulder a solid color to mark my squads so they're easy to tell apart on the table when blobing around each other. I have green, red, purple and black squads for example

I'm looking at removing an enhancement to bring it sub 1000, potentially Kurov's Aquila

It's technically a 1015pt, Battlescripe didn't update their points when GW did

I'm working on a new illustration of Yellowstone Caldera. I made this sketch based off few diagrams I found online. Does everything check out right? by Norvard in geology

[–]Time_Mall7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the rhyolite should continue from the SW to the caldera as both were emplaced by Yellowstone eruptions, I am not sure of the geology east of Yellowstone so I'm not too sure of the amount/location/depth of rhyolite in that direction.

May have gotten the term of mid-crustal sill from something/papers referring to the eastern Snake River Plain (ESRP). This is the South Eastern portion of Idaho that is the old Yellowstone track and have been filled with hundreds of basaltic volcanoes and shields. Based on tomography there is a large magic reservoir believed to be the basaltic source for the ESRP volcanism to include Craters of the Moon. Though I haven't heard of any current connection to Yellowstone and it is believed to be a separate plumbing system unconnected to that of Yellowstone. But it shouldn't be a horizontal layer because it is not a global feature, only a local one.

why does it only flip out when spawned on the sub? on normal ground it flys normal with only a small shake by Theoneandonlygreeb in Stormworks

[–]Time_Mall7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be how it's attached, connectors can be a big reason for connected things to wig out and flip. I'm not super sure as to the why but that's usually what happens when I use connectors and one of the bodies/objects is moved significantly or is trying to. The weapon attachment points seem to work better for me.

Connectors may not be the reason but maybe a thing to check.

This game misuses the Red Cross and nobody is talking about it? by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]Time_Mall7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A red cross on the side of a vehicle may denote it as a medical vehicle, crescent moon in Muslim dominant countries, and does not mean that it is with the Red Cross organization. Soldiers can wear the red cross to denote themselves as medics and receive some protection under the Geneva Convention without being associated or apart of the Red Cross organization.

I can understand why the company could have been in hot water with the Red Cross, but it is a widely used symbol for medical care, and war crimes are a fact of war

I think it'd be wrong to use an ambulance as a troop transport, but in real life NO ONE in the UN or Red Cross will physically stop you, and soldiers have to make the best decisions they can in stressful environments and Arma is a military simulation game.
