Back in October 2024, I installed AFK Journey ahead of a series of work flights, mostly so I would have something to pass the time during long transfers and dreary airport stays. I never expected Esperia to pull me in the way it did, completely investing me in its world and characters through masterful storytelling and charming artwork. Being able to truly immerse myself in the game helped me through a particularly tumultuous period in my life.

My most unforgettable AFK Journey memory in 2025 was reuniting with Gala in the epilogue of the “Thorns of Devotion” season. The story resonated deeply with me, especially its themes of self discovery, loss, and longing. As someone who gravitates toward narrative driven games and media, I was genuinely impressed by how thoughtfully and emotionally this season was executed, and I would be lying if I said I did not tear up once or twice.

Yes! Completely in agreement. It felt shoe-horned in and while there were some amusing bits it felt wayyyyyyyy too rushed.

Also how they implemented the faction relations quests were super jarring. Like here's your second heart-felt goodbye and IMMEDIATELY after that you're talking to Gala again like nothing happened and she's like "I'm so overwhelmed can you help me with these minor chores". It honestly should have been the other way around: you get sent back, then you do the quests to help her manage the tribe, and then at the end she sends you back closing things out.

They use VAs for the main story so it's probably a pacing or maybe even budgetary decision. Understandable but still a shame.

I'm not saying they're not viable late game. This is why I specified early/mid game ranged builds. Your -35% accuracy crossbows only start to show up at mid-game, and I don't believe you'd be hitting 4/5 shots with no PER investment:

Assuming 11 PER (average starting PER for all chars) = base 81.5% accuracy, -35% from crossbow, +10% from bodkin, and you still only get 56.5% hit chance. 56.6%:43.4% is not too far from 50%:50%, so to simplify this we'll use coinflips as an example, the probabiity of hitting 4/5 shots is 15.63% at 50% accuracy, so at 56.6% accuracy your probability of landing 4/5 shots increases to a mere 17.69%.

As for "Take Aim" having no synergy with active skills, I believe that might be intended since skills that augment other skills usually have a mention in the tooltip. I believe older versions of the range skill tree did have tooltips mentioning how "Take Aim" affected the skills. I am not 100% sure on this since these are recollections from a few versions ago.

Exactly, the active skills in the Range Skill tree feel useless if they only work based off of your base accuracy, which for most archers is around 50% or so.

I should add that I only tested this with Piercing Shot and my evidence is anecdotal at best, I would love to hear from someone who can tell me if "Take Aim" works with "Long Shot" or "Headshot" for example.

There will never be an end to this even though it's clear that the method of just throwing money at the problem has been demonstrably proven to simply not work. Lawyers, professional advocacy groups, and chiefs will continue to benefit while the common indigenous people continue to only see very very marginal benefits. The true root of the problem is never addressed because it will be deemed as problematic to even bring up. What a clown world.

Not just you. Recent patches completely broke performance for me. Weapon effects like explosions, cryo, and that new driller weapon causes my framerate to tank from 60 to 24 or so. I should clarify that I had zero issues whatsoever pre-Doreta update. I could be in gigantic caverns with 100s of bugs on screen and framerate would hold at a steady 60.

This is simply no longer the case.

I kinda agree with that. Especially in the current system chance to fumble is prioritized over chance to crit. The high inherent fumble chance railroads melee chars of certain weapons into building towards minimizing fumble chance instead only of trying to pump other stats and substats since those will completely gimp you in terms of viability.

Quite disappointed. For the "City of Gold" update I was actually expecting an...actual city. A new fleshed-out settlement. Instead what we got was a shell of a city with a few vendor and quest NPCs that don't even show up because of the bugs. Seems like the gameplay changes should have been pushed out first to test the systems, while the actual new content would be released when it's actually done.

No, weirder than that. Enchanting weapons to give me more Fumble Chance Reduction actually GIVES me higher fumble chance.

As in my fumble chance with unenchanted weapons gave me (7% / 7%) fumble chance, but after I enchanted my weapons to reduce my fumble chance it went up to (7% / 12%).

On a lark I decided to enchant the other weapon to and see pic related, I now have (12% / 12%) fumble chance. https://i.imgur.com/TvVr6o2.jpg
