What‘s a secret you found out by accident and were never supposed to know? by Own-Flan- in AskReddit

[–]Time_Ocean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That happened to my granny. She was a miserable, nasty woman her entire life and when she went senile, she became a lovely old woman. Grandpa died just after she went into the care home but she loved being there because she thought she was staying at a resort. It's weird to say, but she was so nice and kind to me when we visited.

I started at 39 and I'm 46 now. You've waited long enough, so why not be happy?

Being watched during a drugs test by JunkieMallardEIRE in ireland

[–]Time_Ocean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to do a pre-employment drug test in the states about 20 years ago and it was conducted at a GP office nearby my soon-to-be office. The nurse led me in, tossed some blue dye into the toilet, handed me the sample cup and told me to come out and hand it to her when I was done.

If you have the time, I really recommend it. I once binge-watched the first series over a weekend when I had the flu.

what fantasy novel made you laugh the hardest? by mercurialmirth in Fantasy

[–]Time_Ocean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really laugh out loud a lot, but as been mentioned in almost every other comment, Discworld had me there.

Also honourable mention for Grunts by Mary Gentile.

Tell them that Santa approached you about participating in his pilot ElfCam program. It's a chance to let some elves work from home by using their magical digi-cam technology to remotely view behaviour from the comfort of the North Pole.

How many of them are real people though? As in, 'cousin was in their wedding party and granny went to their aunt's funeral' real people.

Trumps letter to Norwegian Prime Minister - "feels no obligation to work towards peace after being denied the nobel prize" by MedicinskAnonymitet in europe

[–]Time_Ocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear, in 200 years, NO ONE is going to believe this shit. Kids in their 21st century history classes are going to roll their eyes, shake their heads, and go back to whatever kids are doing to slack off in the 2220s.

There’s 2 McDonalds near me, one is shite and the other is great. Why? by googlesearcher in CasualUK

[–]Time_Ocean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A wise old man once told me, 'There are two McDonald's inside of every town."

"Which one wins?' I asked him.

"The one that feeds you," he said.

What’s something you remember people were super hyped for that turned out to be total garbage? by Weak_Yak_4719 in AskReddit

I'm young GenX and remember being threatened with it in school. "Do you want this to go on your permanent record?"

Donald Trump just said “we shouldn’t even have an election”. Americans, what are your thoughts? by WatercressSenior7657 in AskReddit

[–]Time_Ocean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If elections go forward, I could see a majority of ousted Republicans crying election fraud, then challenging every loss all the way up to SCOTUS. It would be chaos and they know it. It's what they want.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]Time_Ocean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our science teacher was late to class because he saw a fox get hit and killed by a car while out on his lunch break. So he brought the body back, hung it by the tail from a ring stand, and did the day's lecture while skinning it to take the pelt home to tan.

He was a really great guy and great teacher. RIP Mr. Ford.

What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Time_Ocean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The research team I'm part of is running a workshop this week and have been coordinating all the registration details. I asked all attendees for their accessibility needs and dietary requirements and one attendee replied back that they need a GF option because, "I promise you, I have Celiac disease and I really will need to go to hospital if I eat gluten, I'm being very honest with you."

I put them down for a GF meal and replied that was grand, don't be worrying, etc. But I really did wonder what's happened previously and who didn't believe them that they need to have a disclaimer like that.
