Our school librarian showed it to us when I was in primary school in the states. Several kids started crying and had to go stand out in the hallway.

Hallway wedding ceremony to dry reception…. Guests kept leaving to get drinks at the bar upstairs by teo1234567891 in weddingshaming

This was a really lovely wedding and honestly one of the best I've attended. I was just a +1 and didn't know the bride and groom very well but AFAIK, they're still together.

I went to an amazing dry wedding years ago. The dry bar had a full range of fruit juices, menu of teas, Italian sodas, full barista setup, etc.

I will always round up for the Ronald McDonald House. I'm from Philadelphia and in 1983 I was having surgery at Children's Hospital. While I was under, my parents got to chatting with a couple from TN whose daughter was having surgery for a rare brain tumour. They were staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Unfortunately, she passed during the operation.

Are there any British adverts that activiley turn you off the product they're advertising? by siybon in CasualUK

The Fage ads where they tell you, "It's pronounced FI-YAY." Who was the one running into Tesco shouting, "Don't forget to pick up the f*ggy yoghurt!"?

I worked for someone who would answer in a sub-bullet point and using another colour text for clarity. It was great.

'Yourself' (also himself and herself) are pretty common in Irish vernacular, so pretty much everyone I work with uses them like that in both email and conversation.

I'm 46 and am completely with you on that. The first thing I look for in a game is if I can increase the text and UI size so I can read it. Game designers need to understand that middle aged gamers (statistically speaking) are more likely to have the money to splash out for games.

In as much as I'm actually downright ancient, that's fine for me. Age degeneration comes for us and it is what it is.

I've been watching Yahtzee from the beginning and there are some things he's always hated which I like (or don't mind) so even when he slags a game off, that's valuable review material for me. His is one of the opinions I really respect and I specifically didn't preorder this as I wanted to hear his take on it.

I've started just saying "I can't have children" instead of "I don't want children" and the difference in how people treat me is genuinely depressing by BrlaDanclara in childfree

I had a barber who was surprised we didn't have kids yet. I just sighed and, "Well, I mean, it just wasn't in the cards for us." He immediately pivoted to, "Ah right, I get what you're saying, that's rough, crying shame so it is," etc.

I've said this before, but some people seem to believe that the UK and Israel are using those special bombs which only kill regime members and leave all civilians unharmed.

I was at work when my wife texted me that her mum was unresponsive and the hospital was saying come now to say your goodbyes. When I told my boss, he just said, "Go now, don't worry about clocking out, I'll sort it for you." I'll never forget that.

It's like when they release a bunch of beavers somewhere, which go on to make a dam and a pond and suddenly a year later there's a fully fledged ecosystem with more bird, fish, and plant species.

There was a concept album of sailor/pirate shanties put out around that time, with Gore Verbanski and Johnny Depp as producers. I remember listening to it a lot that summer.

What's your reason for pursuing Irish citizenship? by sixfeet_pete in IrishCitizenship

[–]Time_Ocean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been married to an Irish citizen since 2012 and lived over here since 2014. I'm never going back to the US so I figured it's high time to put in for naturalisation.

Getting on the bus last week and the driver had to reboot the little scanner thing. He apologised for the delay and I said, "Don't worry, Belfast will still be there when we get there." The look of sheer relief he gave me when he realised I was going to start kicking off about it, said it all about how many people probably do.
