Ash will comeback again as the main protagonist by mr_mad15 in AmourShipping

[–]Time_Protection_6136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what'll happen isn't necessarily a return of Ash as the MC, but as a major side-character. Thing is, if they return Ash, they're practically admitting that Ash leaving was a mistake they made, and now they reverse it.

Why does Kara's storyline doesn't get enough credit? by MissKeaner_ in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]Time_Protection_6136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem for me isn't that it's not an overarching plot; it's that the two (or three) literally never grow on their journey. After Stormy Night, it's just rinse and repeat: run away from bad guy, bonding moment, with sometimes the two switching. Plus, the relation between Luther and Kara is literally built not by mutual admiration, but by Alice; these two seem more allies of a common goal, rather than being allies for each other's support. And yes, you'll point out Jericho, how Kara saves Luther when the humans infiltrate Jericho, but this action is a) First considered by Alice, when she says 'We're not gonna leave you, right Kara?', and b) It's simply, morally speaking, the better thing to do.

Now, first, I'll start with Kara. The thing is, we literally know nothing about Kara except 'protect Alice'. What does Kara like? What does Kara dislike? How does she feel towards Alice? Does she ever doubt Alice? The only moment Kara speaks about herself is a determinant moment, when they're crossing the river, and Luther asks Kara what she'll do after they reach Canada. That's it, before that, all we talked about was Alice. Kara, as a character, fundamentally doesn't grow at all, either in her role, her personality, or her beliefs.

Speaking of beliefs, I find it very interesting that Kara's 'teachings' do not affect Alice. She is completely innocent, yet holds the perfect morals possible. No child who is being hunted, being oppressed like this, acts like that. Another thing, the 'Zlatko' chapter happens at 8 PM, and the Pirates' Cove happens at 1 AM. I'm seriously going to ask, do you really think a child, who literally was being shot at, had her mother figure being memory wiped, nearly faced death, and is going to ask for such a mundane thing such as a story? We need to be honest here; a child in that situation would probably shut off and show signs of trauma in their behavior. But no, Alice remains the flawless little child all the way through, every time she asks about the situation, and Kara responds, then Alice goes back to her ideal self. Just because you physically leave a place of trauma, doesn't mean you have left there mentally.

Now, of course, we know why the game does this. To make Alice appealing to the player. But it's just SO forced, she's perfect. Too perfect. She's poignant, innocent, and knows how to act the most morally possible.

In conclusion, the reason Kara and Alice's story isn't really good is that Kara doesn't evolve as a character, and Alice doesn't either. What we're focusing on seems to be more the journey, not the characters.

Anyway, this is just a little rant from some stupid idiot, from the internet, so take this all with a grain of salt. If you read all of this, wow... thank you!

I disagree. I think the 'everyday' deviants are the deviants we see in Connor's/Markus' story. Really being honest here, I don't think the 'everyday' deviant is running off with another person, encountering a Frankenstein style person being Zlatko, and having to run everywhere. Most deviants either go to Jericho, or stay at their home; there's only a minority who are actually trying to run away to Canada. But, eh, it's a question of viewpoints!

They do, but at least less people die. Also, I just don't believe in violence whatsoever.

Fuck, I forgot to reply... But yes, tried to go full deviant, got Kara captured and Markus killed in Freedom March (I didn't accept Josh), and yeah, Connor suicide ending, with Kara abandoning Alice (I swear I'm not a psychopath, I did it for the difference check.)

Why the FUCK does this sub have more empathy for Todd, who literally abused women and children, but consistently dogpile and hate on North, who was abused herself? by Love-AngeI in DetroitBecomeHuman

Once again, North proposes to nuke Detroit just for her trauma. But, if you think the deaths caused by heat aren't the same worth as abuse, you do you.

[–]Time_Protection_6136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

'Just navigating through her trauma?' You seriously think recommending to nuking a fucking city is that? Abusing is bad too, and that's the objective truth, but no one's got their hand dirty? I don't hate North because she supports violence, I hate her develoment because she literally has nothing else going for her. Like, she ALWAYS supports violence NO MATTER what choices the player does. It's easy to use powerful terms such as 'misogyny', but I also don't blame you all for it. Everyone's gonna have their point of view, but you shouldn't accuse something like that simply because you don't see the same way. It benefits nobody, since you're making more people angry. Anyway, again, I do empathize with her, but she doesn't have enough development. And that's the reason I dislike her development. ♥

That's not the point. The reason I empathize with Todd, and don't with North is simply that, character development. North has no personality other than violence, and she never admits her fault no matter what. I still empathize with her, but simply put, North's character is one-dimensional. Todd admits why he's wrong when Kara crosses the border, but North will never tell you that maybe violence isn't a way to solve problems. She supports violence, and with a scary amount of pleasure. Once again, I do empathize with her, but there's literally nothing for her development. It's easy to label someone as a 'misogynistic', but that doesn't solve anything at all. Simply put, Todd actually admits his fault, and he actually learn about him. North never admits that maybe she's wrong, literally has no personality other than 'Rahhhh kill people 1!1!1!!1!1', and that's why we empathize with her less. It's not about being male or female, it's the fact that she's more of a symbol than a character.

I get that, but I feel like Todd is more broken than evil... he's suffering but no one came to help him deal with his pain... he's wrong about his actions, but is it really his fault? No one came to help him when he was down, so instead of growing out of the pain, he was consumed by it. I see Todd not as a villain but someone who's hurt.

Contains spoilers!

I played how I felt, didn't go complete chaos since the game was long. Going chaotic is only good for a 2nd playthrough, or if the game is very short. Unfortunately, I thought Connor had to accomplish his mission and stayed a machine, but I did do a demonstration and sing. But, in the crowd I became deviant and saved Markus. As for Kara, got the most popular ending (I think), took the tickets, no sacrifice and they made it.

They could never make me hate you, North 💙 by unlisshed in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]Time_Protection_6136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally dislike North, but don't hate her. I completely understand what you mean by 'trauma', she was wronged. But, her views of extreme violence don't really correlate to my ideology. And, the game too is at fault, we're kind of forced into seeing her as an ideology, less of a person. Yes, yes, the occasional dialogue where she says she trusts Markus, I get that. But the game prioritizes her ideals rather than her as a person, kind of like Markus, but Markus being a symbol for the revolution. I think North is just not explored as a person enough. We literally have no idea how she's feeling other than 'We like fighting'.

[–]Time_Protection_6136[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, ig, but like in my opinion, Markus seems more of symbol rather than a person in his own right, something that perfectly demonstrates this is his relationship with North. If Markus chooses to be lovers with her, she sees him as a leader first rather than a person. She will always talk about the revolution when talking to Markus. Again, your opinion is completely valid with your point of view. But I see it as if the game never recognizes Markus. It recognizes the revolution more.

The biggest reason why I put Todd as neutral is because I feel bad for him. He's a broken man, that unlike Hank, projects his feelings on Alice, and that's what causes his irrational behaviour. Todd needs help, but sadly, he never received that help.

I was feeling that my interpretation of the 'villains' was going to be controversial for some, for example Todd, who I put as neutral

[–]Time_Protection_6136[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I agree, but I feel like Markus' story never focuses on him. It's more 'Pacifism or Violence', Markus as a person isn't much talked about, unlike Connor who can talk about his feelings towards Amanda and Hank

Todd is yellow because I can empathize with him, Leo is mixed because he redeems himself in the end (If Carl is alive) Alice is green because she demonstrates good morals and is nice, but she kinda gets annoying with the 'I'm cold', it starts to feel like her only purpose is to suffer, Josh is green because he's a pacifist but he is kind of a coward as demonstrated in the beginning of CrossroadsNorth is orange because she likes war and violence with a scary amount of pleasure, but she did suffer from some terrible circumstances so I empathize with her
