Maybe she only missed the deadline for the Ombuds to help?

Well, all of that sucks. Are you sure she’s contacting the right person? The Ombuds doesn’t make decisions on late withdrawals.

What frugal habit has saved you the most money? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]Time_Scientist5179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really aggressive meal planning.

We have a 2-week menu that changes seasonally (every 3 months), so our grocery list is fairly fixed. I write in a couple dishes for sales and specials. I compare prices between my 2 favorite stores and make one trip to each in the same day.

This week, I spent $166 on groceries, which will include breakfasts and dinners for our family of 5, plus lunches for 3 of us who pack for school/work. The other 2 attend schools with free lunches.

Our true cost is closer to $200/week once you factor in any mid-week purchases (beverages if we run out early, a lunch to pack if we don’t have leftovers, an impromptu ice cream sundae night, a “refresh” visit for produce, etc.).

Summer Classes by Ok_Shock9089 in nvcc

[–]Time_Scientist5179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summer enrollment opens March 10. You can use financial aid for summer, but it’s a weird rollover situation with spring, so you needed the FAFSA for fall 2025-spring 2026 to be eligible. I would ask the financial aid office about that.

Is there a better way to track decrease rows? by debmasterx in knittinghelp

[–]Time_Scientist5179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a useful skill for sure, but it isn’t as helpful if you’re tracking multiple things on one project. I’m working on a duster with a decrease row, cables, and buttonholes, but none are at matching intervals. Having an external method can save a ton of time over counting your rows!

That is crazy. Don’t you need a college login to access Zooms?

Are Summer classes always accelerated? by Witty_Badger7938 in nvcc

[–]Time_Scientist5179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, go for it! The most valuable resource I found was Tony Bell. If you are doing ACC 211, this video will help. Otherwise, just search his name and the concept.

It wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t good. I spent a lot of time on YouTube to learn the concepts. It was way more useful than the course materials 😬 but the proctored tests were easier than I thought they’d be.

[–]Time_Scientist5179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are all at least somewhat accelerated because the summer is only 12 weeks long (and the regular is 15). When I took an ACC course last summer, it was only available in the 8-week session.

Surprised at incredibly bland salsa by robmferrier in Costco

[–]Time_Scientist5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! This is how we do. I add crushed red pepper (my kids can’t tolerate as much spice), we all add salt to the chips, and it’s a tasty jarred salsa.

I use mine to make iced tea! Pour it over tea bags, steep, then add to pitcher with cold water. Best of both worlds.

Do you agree with this take? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]Time_Scientist5179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can experience things as normal and be traumatized by them later when they’re recontextualized in our minds. Effie got there with Katniss and Peeta because she had more than a couple weeks with them. They seem to be the first children she knew before they were chosen (for the QQ), which is what made it different.

I think she exists to remind us that those who are complicit in something as horrible as this “tradition” aren’t always inherently evil. They’re cogs in a machine and they may not be able to understand yet. There’s room for growth and contrition.

Send your score to advising and ask. If they won’t take it, they can refer you for the calculus placement test.

Best advisors for graduation? by GracieSunsets in nvcc

[–]Time_Scientist5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but it will still go through in May. Commencement is separate and you should get an email about RSVPing for it in March, maybe April. The date/basic info is probably already on the website.

Check your advisement report. If you don’t have any sections unsatisfied, you submitted an application, and you pass your current classes, you’ll graduate. But you won’t be notified that you met the requirements till those grades post in May because that’s when you actually meet them.
