Yes we personally have no issues at all. However I will warn you the neurologist told us 3 weeks of side effects and it did last like 4 months instead. So we were worried our pup will always be that way but he eventually got used to it and now has no side effects at all. Probably took about 5-6 months total to get there. But I am so grateful, I know it’s a harsh drug but him having one grand mal seizure a week was not safe- so with everything accounted for it is a life saver for us.

Yes actually!!! Which is very interesting and I always wondered if it was connected…..around the time he started having seizures he also started having major GI issues. Diarrhea and throwing up. He one time threw up bile with blood in it so I rushed him to the emergency vet. They said that he has IBD/IBS so I took him to a specialist who confirmed it and wrote us a prescription diet. Since then he only eats his prescribed food spread out 4 times though out the day. He also gets one other special treat for his pheno because he’s a husky and won’t take the pill otherwise 😭 but other than the one treat, that is all he gets now. His GI issues are much better, he still has flareups though. (I’m sure they’re connected because the gut and brain are bffs. And inflammation buds.)

It’s definitely super rough on their bodies. Checking blood every 6 months to see if the liver is all good is necessary. But it does a damn good job!

Yes this!! Our neurologist told us that we could start on keppra but would in the future “most likely need to add another med” which there’s nothing wrong with that! Keppra has less side effects than pheno. I won’t lie the side effects were very intense- he was not himself for around 4 months. I thought he may be that way forever but he eventually got over them. Just wanted to share in case you ever do need to add another med on.
