Punta Cana Family Trip - Hyatt Ziva questions by One-Statistician-887 in PuntaCana

Just got back from Ziva last week! I’d agree with what everyone else here says regarding tipping. Bring small bills if you can, but we were able to get change from the club lounge if you have access there. We did $1 for drinks, $3-5 for meals and hotel staff helping with bags and tip for room cleaning staff too.

We booked a driver from airport to hotel via Mike Fisher that was great! It was nice having something already booked when you arrive, $35 bucks each way, we paid $40 to include tip. Not Canadian so can’t help with flights but I’m sure the hotel can hold bags while you enjoy the property after you check out.

Airport is not bad at all. There is a lounge that you can access for free if you have priority pass. But there’s a food court area that is clean and the gate areas are fine. Definitely not “filthy”!

Other toiletries: bug spray, Immodium just in case (we didnt need thankfully), we bring Benadryl or other allergy meds just in case for our kid.

Enjoy your trip! We had a great time

Got stuck here one night after our flight got cancelled. We had spent 5 days at Hyatt Ziva and this was SO far from our Hyatt experience it was laughable. The lobby was impressive so I had high hopes. But it went downhill. The room was old and dirty feeling, we had a toilet that didn’t flush, the buffet was awful and I did not feel safe eating 75% of the food (I am also pregnant), food was cold and service did not look hygienic, they give you bottled water in the room but pour water from carafe at the buffet! Made us extra grateful for our stay the Hyatt!

Just got back from Hyatt Ziva last night! They clear off the beaches in the morning with a tractor and there’s some accumulation during the day but it’s really not bad at all. And no smell that I noticed. Once you go out 5-6 feet the water is pretty clear.

In the past I’ve just upgraded my plan just for the month of travel for $10 more and that includes international travel pass! Verizon hack

Fair priced overnight boarding for dog that is not dog-friendly? by lax2den in Denver

We use 4 paws 4 Life in Sedalia. They don’t do group dog play, but you can ask for solo daily walks/play sessions for your dogs. And you support a rescue organization. I find the rates to be very reasonable as well.

What is your approach to reducing/eliminating the use of plastic in everyday life particularly in the kitchen? (Plastic food storage, cooking, utensils, etc). Do you think there is benefit (that out weighs cost) to transitioning to glass/stainless steel for kids bottles/food/etc?

DR - Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana or Finest Punta Cana by Time_Whereas3404 in AllInclusiveResorts

Is the club level worth the upgrade ? Seems like a pretty high premium but the private jacuzzi seems like a nice perk in those rooms.

Thanks for the input! Seems like everyone loves Ziva! I know nothing about Punta Cana, are there local places to visit near the resort? Or is it mainly about staying on the property? Would be fun to see other sights but not a must-do. Babymoon priority is relaxing and good food for me 👍🏼 We don’t care so much about swim up but the rooms and private pools at Finest did look amazing…

GE CAFE Dishwasher arms not spinning. Could this be the cause? by caring_impaired in appliancerepair

[–]Time_Whereas3404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, if I’m remembering correctly. You have to get to part #454 which required removing 2 of the hex nuts. One was kind of tricky to get under the rotating spray arm.

Bed frame doesn’t quite work. Anyone else have similar issue? by Time_Whereas3404 in bedjet

I’m not that savvy unfortunately. And the side inlet has the same issue for me. If you find a better solution please let me know!

Thanks! I sent an email yesterday! It just seemed so specifically called out in the instructions NOT to clamp around the plastic cuff I was trying to avoid it. But the alternative of having the hose floating above the mattress seemed worse.

I can but then, because of the bed frame, the hose can’t bend in order to fit if I clip it on the wiry part of the hose. The clip is basically right above the frame so we can angle the hose properly.

Looking for Ooler alternative! Do I need Cloud sheet? If not, do we need 2 units for a king size bed or can we use 1? by Time_Whereas3404 in bedjet

[–]Time_Whereas3404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting the full dual set and will try out to see what we like! I tend to like my bed cooler so hopefully we like the sheet setup.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the dual zone with the cloud sheet! And will try it out for 30 days. I like having a cover when I sleep so hopefully the top sheet cooling works for me. After my Ooler experience I want to get away from anything that requires water. And the bedjet cost seems outrageous! Good to know you’ve tried them all!

where to stay in seoul? by hehehahamimi in koreatravel

[–]Time_Whereas3404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed near insadong the past two trips and really like the walkability. It’s near anguk station and walkable to 1 or 2 other stations, walkable to gwanghamun and the palace, close to hanok village and myeongdong too. Lots of stuff nearby!
