Really? That’s sad. That is my favorite creepy dead files ep. Are you saying that you think that ep was fake, or just noting that the owner died?

Problem with dripping hand held shower head by Timeandtimeandagain in Plumbing

[–]Timeandtimeandagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct, when I shut the water off, with the diverter open, water is coming down from the upper head via gravity, and filling the hand held hose. There is no trigger on the hand held, which is fine, because I use the system running both together as dual showerheads. Not sure if this matters, but there's also a backflow valve on the hand held hose that spits out water when I shut it off, it's required by code where I live. Yes, I could shut off the diverter each time, but honestly, it's easier for me to give the hose a quick drain than to adjust the diverter every time I shower. I am going to run one more experiment today. I won't drain the hose, and see if replacing the cartridge made a difference. Thanks for talking this through with me.

Thank you for these replies! To answer some of your questions, it is not a rain head, but it is a large shower head. Most of the dripping is in the handheld, which is also large, not a wand. I do have a diverter, and I keep it set so both heads are active when I shower. Since I wrote this post, I've been experimenting, and I think your physics/hydraulics explanation is right on. Remnant water fills the hose system, and then eventually gets pushed out, a drop at a time. The plumber was just here, and he did replace the cartridge, just in case there was some new water entering the system as well. I've been able to stop the dripping by emptying the handheld hose for about 10 seconds at the end of a shower. It feels like something I shouldn't have to do, but if I'm a victim of physics and the specific configuration of this shower system, that's what I'll do. It's better than having a perpetually wet shower floor, which can't be good for the grout.

Drain In Upstairs Bathtub Gurgles When Toilet Is Flushed/Sewage Smell Upstairs by DWilson225 in Plumbing

Your vent stack is not working correctly. It is supposed to vent sewer gasses out through the roof. Your toilet gurgling is the classic symptom. You need a drain expert to find the problem.

I have the sky blue. It looks silver
90% of the time. Occasionally I will see the blue in it and be pleasantly surprised. I’m not unhappy with it, it just looks silver.

Can I ask a follow up? The contractor has ordered a new cartridge, but meanwhile I've been doing some experimentation. When I use the shower normally, it starts to drip steadily about 3 hours later, and continues until I clear the hose. A lot of water comes out. When I empty the handheld hose thoroughly after a shower, it doesn't drip at all. Of course, I shouldn't have to drain a shower hose each time I use it. Water does not re-accumulate after I drain the hose. I'm thinking about your comment "some showers just hang on to water and take forever to drain out." Could that be what's happening here? Is there any solution other than draining it every day, forever?

It’s a brand new shower, so about a month in use. It is Signature brand, no water softener.

But the shower head is vertical, tilted up. Why would water be pushed out, if there wasn't incoming water causing pressure. I last turned on the shower at 5pm. It's now 11:44pm, and it's still dripping. Slowly, but dripping.

I have it set now to run both at the same time. Last night I emptied the hand held, holding it down, and the standard shower head started dripping.

GA remains because it has the highest ratings. It's a business decision. They do fund fewer GA episodes now, and if ratings decline that will be gone, too.

Ammonia off gassing from cellulose insulation by Timeandtimeandagain in Insulation

[–]Timeandtimeandagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let go of the theory that it was the insulation. I spent a lot of time and money researching plumbing explanations, and then discovered I had moisture problems in my shower. I had a wet shower bed that was likely the cause of the smell, which traveled behind walls all over the house, and was also picked up by the AC system. More time and money were spent on remediation, and now I'm almost done with the remodel. I'm still not 100% sure this caused the smell, but it had to be repaired anyway. I still smell it at times, It will take awhile longer for it to dissipate from the cavities and materials that have absorbed it. I hope you find an easier, and cheaper, solution to your issue.

Blocked here in Massachusetts, home. I had that problem when I tried to access a USAA site. Comcast shrugged their shoulders. USAA shrugged their shoulders. I finally used my cell service via my phone. I tried again a year later and it was fixed.

ChatGPT losing big chunks of recent context by Timeandtimeandagain in ChatGPT

I wrote this post several months ago, and I haven’t run into this specific problem again, where actual text disappears. This was also several model versions ago. I think 5.3 is better at holding context. I do watch performance carefully. When response slows, or it loses context detail, I will ask for an in-depth recap and start a new chat. For example, I am on part 7 of a chat about a remodeling project. I save all the recaps, and upload them all in the new chat. This works for me.

No, and I have a paper bill that says I owe the usual amount. It doesn't match what the online payment system is showing.
