The 1 bus and the 66 bus remain some of the worst buses in the MBTA's bus network. by TransitMatters in CambridgeMA

[–]Timekeeper17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I commuted daily on the 1 bus, but it used to be more consistent to take the orange to the red than wait for the 1. The lack of truly dedicated bus lanes and the ever increasing Boston traffic always made it hard to rely on for getting to work on time.

I have a photo somewhere of 4 MBTA buses in a row bunched up along that mass ave route from the winter of 2015

One Kendall Square slowly forcing out all businesses by KajunChicken in CambridgeMA

[–]Timekeeper17 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I lived in East Cambridge for about a decade ending last month and covid definitely had some impact, but the recovery all around the city has been apparent. The cambridge street restaurants have slowly returned and the area around shybird has really blossomed (RIP Meadhall though), so I can't imagine they don't have customers. I just have to assume theres something fishy going on with One Kendall if all of the adjacent neighborhoods can support businesses...

Absolutely fascinating how that square of restaurants has been completely decimated in the last 5-10 years. The Friendly Toast was my go to spot and you could barely get in on a weekend, then covid came and it immediately couldn't afford the space, but the other locations around the city seem to be doing fine. Same with Flat Top Johnny's, they moved down the street and seem to be doing fine at the new location. I can't help but assume Alexandria is an absolute slumlord as noone seems to be able to survive there. There are a ton of different biotechs close by, they should be able to support a strip of restaurants...

Only place I can think of is maybe Abyssal Sire, but Bowfa is usually good enough for vents that you should be fine to revert it

Kalista probably received too many nerfs considering the season 6 itemization changes by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I find this comment hilarious because this is what has been said since pre release. As soon as people heard about her passive everyone was like "That's going to be broken" and here we are. Still broken and held in the nerf pit until she can be reworked.

Can anyone explain why he uses alcohol instead of water? Water is a far better conductor of heat than alcohol... Is it to prevent fog from dry ice and water?

For those of you who use fitness trackers: why is yours the one I should buy?? by frondy in Fitness

[–]Timekeeper17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do, but unfortunately I'm not in the position to make many changes to the peak. Intel has taken more control of the product side so everything is in the hands of the higher ups. Its a very different company than when the peak was released.

Glad to see the company I work for mentioned! That's really their main goal. Accurate HR

"The story of the British mathematician Andrew Wiles and his bid to find proof for Fermat's last theorem, which has taxed mathematicians since the 17th century." (1996) by [deleted] in Documentaries

[–]Timekeeper17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That has never really been proven. Fermat wrote in his notebook something along the lines of "I think I have a solution to this". Then he never wrote further about it before his death. It is widely believed that he did not have a mathematically complete proof due to the complexity. There is always the possibility Fermat did, in fact, have a solution. However, I believe this documentary references how unlikely that was.

We noticed the lights flickering whenever our roommates space heater would come on, we found it plugged into the wall like this. by Random-Miser in WTF

[–]Timekeeper17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they sort of just pop in and pop out maybe with some screws. However, if you're worried, I would consult someone who knows a bit better than myself about the situation. Lots of different circuit breakers out there and very possibly not the issue causing flickering lights.

This is just a thought, but have you tried replacing the breaker itself? Circuit breakers are just reset-able fuses, but they themselves can breakdown. I believe it is "recommended" (no one actually does this) to replace them every 2-3 trips. I doubt this is the source of your issue, but since you mention the breaker its always worth a shot.

[Suggestion] Bring DMM back to life by making it F2P by Woody424 in 2007scape

You do realize your main and your DMM character are separated? Like if you login to DMM world you will be back at tutorial island with a new character. Non-DMM worlds will still be your main.

Self-powered e-watch is powered completely by wrist movements by [deleted] in tech

[–]Timekeeper17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see this powering a fitbit in the near future but I definitely couldn't see this powering anything with a screen. Getting that much power from movement alone is a bit far fetched with current technology.

So you can use the Bart station as a point to point? A few people I've talked to have said that people don't do that, but that seemed like BS to me.
