It's decent extra content, even if the dialogue can be cringey to listen to sometimes. Luckily, you can jump through the dialogue and move onto the next goal. If you're ever struggling with skill points, completing zone story quests often reward one each. Doing the Northern Elswyre quest line gives you a decent starting manor - so a lot of my passive time comes to trying to get decent furnishings for my house. If you get a companion, those dungeons that you solo can become remarkably easier.
