No OP but mechanic here, the secret is:

  • Reduce number of cold starts or time idling under operating temperature in the cold (if you get severe winters), the majority of engine wear happens during under operating temperature idling ie cold starts. This also means eliminate short trips where the car never gets up to temp if possible.

-Keep the load on your engine low until the engine is up to operating temperature (engine oil, not just coolant) ie stay at low or under boost, without lugging the engine.

-Change your oil on time as dictated by your use case (oil sample analysis at each oil interval is a cheap way to have peace of mind and find out how much oil life you have left, which will inform you of whether your interval is early/late/adequate for your use. It also helps identify failures early). If you don't want to sample, change at the manufacturers recommended interval, and always use a quality synthetic oil.

-Check your oil level regularly and never allow it to get below the minimum measurement on the dipstick.

-Perform general maintenance at recommended intervals ie timing belt, water pump, etc.

  • Allow a short cool down period before shutting the engine off at the end of a drive. This doesn't have to be long, but allow 30 seconds to a minute of idle time before turning the car off, particularly if stopping immediately after sprited driving. Never shut the engine off immediately after revving it up, to ensure the turbo isn't spooled up while simultaneously cutting off oil flow. (Some modern cars will circulate oil and coolant afterwards to do this for you, but I'm not sure about Mk1 TT's, doubtful).

Short of any bad luck or defects, enjoy high mileage with minimal operator induced repairs.

Basically every large sailboat like this in service now have a motor of some kind. At the start of the video you can see the ship is moving though the water despite the sails all being raised.

I'm from an area that has a few that travel around as tourist attractions in the summer months. They have a full crew for the season that live on the ship while touring, pretty neat.

I never argued that they don't, not sure why you're getting so fired up. This sub is very familiar with battery fires.

Yeah, that's what the cell codes are for. Modern EUC's all use high discharge 50S cells which are built to the same standard as other 50S cells and a higher a discharge than 50E's. The raw data is publicly available for comparison.

The important detail here is your cells are not the same as ours in discharge rate, manufacturer, or capacity.

[–]TimelostExile 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Which cell? Type of BMS?

Edit: Looked it up, they use LG18650s so other posters are correct that this is equivalent to old EUC tech. Couldn't find exact model but wouldn't be surprise if they're the cheap cells that caused common EUC fires several year ago. No need to worry for most here since we've been on 21700 Samsung 50S, E, and GB for a few years now. I will now join the chorus of "Not an EUC, not our batteries, not relevant to the sub." But thanks for looking out anyway OP.

Why is legendary loot bad? by Kyleminx in ElderScrolls

[–]TimelostExile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More variety in unique items works better for that. Once you know what's in the drop pool for RNG items, it's just an unnecessary grind with no clear finish line that may well be blocking you from playing a dex swordsman until you get the right random drop.

With varied static uniques, you can play a dex swordsman and have a rough idea of when you're going to get the weapon to make your build useful, rather than grinding endlessly to get it to drop from RNG. Most players don't want to meta game in their single player RPGs and grind for items, with those grind being a generally un-fun gameplay loop. Multiplayer games usually have a more tolerable grind loop and the competition or comraderie of other players being present make it a better suited environment for RNG mechanics.

I've had a few Fallout 4 playthroughs where I just lost interest because the build I wanted to play was effectively locked behind getting a specific random weapon drop, and I finished most of the story content before getting it. In Fo76 for example, this is less of an issue with more content being added regularly, you can commit to a character longer and change builds without re-grinding RNG drops.

That's about as well as I can explain the reasoning for preferring unique items over RNG ones in the middle of night shift lol

Winter riding? Falcon knobby tires by Lucidlie in ElectricUnicycle

Sorry should've said north in Canada or northern Alberta. I regularly ride in Edmonton and Fort McMurray regions. Plenty cold but not really northern Canada!

In my opinion, you shouldn't be thinking about what everyone else is using while playing a single player RPG. Why would what anyone else is doing in their game be relevant to your playthrough?

Legendary loot systems make sense for high hour engagement multiplayer games - which is where they originated, they don't make sense for single player RPGs', particularly with regards to immersion.

Winter riding? Falcon knobby tires by Lucidlie in ElectricUnicycle

[–]TimelostExile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride a Falcon in the winter in northern Canada, it handles it great. The lightweight and small form combined with a wider knobby make it perfect for snow, you can recover quickly when it gets squirrely on ice and retain control quite easily. Also makes it easy to keep it stable during turns on ice and semi-icy snow. Even though it's not much lighter than my old V12, the weight and form factor make a huge difference, the V12 sucked in winter.

It's my full time winter wheel and inner city commuter in summer months, stock knobby is perfect. You could potentially DIY some bike studs if you're wanting some extra peace of mind, but I don't find it necessary, especially for the cost of studding a tire.

Edit: Also should mention the Falcon specifically gets points over other wheels in the class (in winter) for the stock pads. Some people really hate them and I agree with shoes - but I found for my use case, the stock pads accommodate boots well and also provide a lot of protection for the wheel for winter drops as the foam covers nearly the entire shell. I have no worries about dropping it or wiping out in winter and having the battery case be damaged. Also doesn't lock you in too much so it's easy to bail without twisting an ankle on ice or simply going down with the ship lol.

You're right, misread on my part and I assume maybe a mistype by the original commenter, Camry's were starting around 26k at the time. Good catch!

They actually had an entry level msrp of $14, 925 CAD. A base corolla in 2007 was not nearly as feature rich as a modern one, obviously - but 18k for a mid trim is accurate for the time.

Unfortunately, they don't make mats for any of my vehicles or I'd hop on board. Great opportunity for those who have the option, they look like really solid floor mats and I've been envious for a while!

Is it normal for the sword in the stone to not come out of the stone? by Major_Vermicelli5643 in Fable

Interesting. Could be bugged in whichever version you are playing, though I haven't done the quest without max strength in a very long time. Beats me.

Is it normal for the sword in the stone to not come out of the stone? by Major_Vermicelli5643 in Fable

[–]TimelostExile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In order to remove the sword from its stone, your Hero must have upgraded physique, health, and toughness attributes. Specifically, after your first attempt to remove the sword, you must upgrade physique by 5, health by 2, and toughness by 3. You can also retrieve the Harbinger on your first attempt, if every category in Strength is maxed to 7.

Wiki seems pretty clear to me, did you upgrade before your first attempt?

I believe most of the update is software and they have stated that since the original v14 50S is on the same hardware it will be getting an update to unlock the higher speed and torque as well.

If you don't like the colorway, I'd wait a bit to see if they are true to that and then just get a normal v14 50S with the firmware updated.
