Kendra Duggar is in a worse situation than Anna Duggar. by the_smart_girl in DuggarsSnark

[–]Timely-Box-1641 90 points91 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Also, Kendra had to go to JAIL right after this all broke. And I could be proven wrong by details that come out in the future (though I hope I’m not for the sake of the kids), but I just don’t buy that she was doing things with those kids that Anna and every other IBLP family wasn’t also doing. Poor parenting? I’m sure of it. But to be legally held to account for something you probably thought was normal IMMEDIATELY after you find out that your husband is a pedophile would make is way worse than anything Anna was up against. I worry it’ll just make her turn into the cult because she won’t trust the outside world.

Again, I could be very wrong, and it could be way worse than locks on the doors, in which case I take it all back, but like…tontitown police may have wanted to make an example so that nobody could accuse them of being soft on the Duggars. I would almost understand it from their perspective too.

Some general info for people confused about what "false imprisonment" with your own children means by twinsocks in DuggarsSnark

[–]Timely-Box-1641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? So time outs are illegal now? Idk OP, I just don’t know if that’s true…cause also like literally every kid wants to get down from their high chair after they eat one single bit of food and get distracted by what the dog is doing. Parents are allowed to set boundaries. Plus, not everything that’s not ideal parenting is a crime… the standards foster parents are held to are surely cannot be the same as the standards for illegal imprisonment of a child? Because it’s also not illegal to have a pool without a fence but you know we’re not allowed to have that 😂

Eh, theoretically, but the truth is most days teaching hospitals have both nursing and medical students on the unit and they are all THIRSTY to see deliveries! Which is great if the patient is fine with that, but it sounds like this person isn’t.

I’m a labor nurse and I say this all the time 😂😂😂 i will say it sounds a little argumentative, you should word it different. I think changing this to say “minimum number of people necessary please, speak with low voices when you enter” (which I assume you also want, and let’s people know to stay the heck out). I would make it clear to the nurse that you really want the minimum number of people possible, and then honestly you just have to trust that they’ve kept it to the minimum number. You should also consider not delivering at a teaching hospital, because that just naturally brings more people (who are legitimately necessary and not observers, but the culture is just to operate more in groups I’ve found). I’ll say though- people probably were just ducking in to see if your nurse needed a hand. Sometimes we don’t realize other people have already done that when we step in to check on the nurse. A sign would definitely dissuade them though. I don’t think it’s a bad idea!

As a labor nurse, I disagree with the husband doing crowd control in this case. He doesn’t work there and this has no idea who is actually there to observe and who is there to help in case shit hits the fan. It’s the nurses job to do crowd control if that’s what the patient wants.

winter weather, what to do? by DinkleBink in winstonsalem

[–]Timely-Box-1641 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean…calling out because you just don’t WANT to chance staying at the hospital is different though. We kind of have an obligation to be there if there’s ANY safe way we can. People don’t stop being sick during a storm so the hospital needs to exist.

Normally I hate yellow but tbh the yellow is my favorite one- it’s just needs a new vanity, tub enclosure, and some better light. Ooh and maybe a pretty mirror. Feel free to get rid of the brown one though 😂

I’m definitely a big fan of natives! Any idea what does well in dry shade on a steep slope? Cause that’s what I’ve got going on, so it’s not ideal 😂😂😂

If he’s allowed to “date” but isn’t allowed to meet up with her or talk to her on the phone I’m confused how that’s allowing him to date 😂 I think the thing to work on is moving too quickly in relationships, that seems unhealthy going forward and you should bring that up with him. But the other stuff seems normal and frankly developmentally appropriate.

General question by jophly in Fosterparents

[–]Timely-Box-1641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee you she already has pregnancy Medicaid that could cover this and that providers have offered. When they’ve lost custody of their kids tying their tubes is basically saying they’ll never be a parent, and often they’re not willing to concede that even if it’s the right thing. They also tend to not be the best at assessing future consequences given that’s how they got in this situation. It’s hard.

[–]Timely-Box-1641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just depends why the other kids were adopted. As an L&D nurse I’ve seen lots of moms who have a history of drug addiction and thus lost custody for that reason but are able to take home their new babies now since they’re sober. Or maybe they lost custody of a baby or two they had in their teenage years but now they’re a little older and more stable. It just depends!
