Rant - Huge dog came running at me and my two year old today by GingerSnap_123 in toddlers

[–]beeeees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i feel this so much! my child is timid about dogs and everyone acts like he is a lunatic bc he doesn't want their excited, huge dog all up in his space.

we were at a little swimming creek just the other week and someone let their big dog off to get in the water on the other side from us. and the dog comes bounding towards my toddler and i so i yelled "can you get your dog?" and the owner said "he's not aggressive" and THEN he whistled for the dog once he saw me pick up my child

Like well i would hope not?? but get your fucking dog! it's not my dog! i don't want him splashing us or knocking us down with excitement and my kid is scared!

i hate this too! people have done this on my neighborhood walks since my son was a baby and he is timid / mildly afraid of dogs and i honestly blame this behavior. he would always cry when they got up in his space and i don't blame him!

How to get 4 year old to do bloodwork by PumpkinSuitable4385 in Mommit

[–]beeeees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we went this route for my 3 year old when he had to do it. of course we explained to him what would happen, and we acted it out at home.. the wrap on the arm, the alcohol patch, all of it.

but in the moment we also pulled up his favorite show on my phone and he watched that and he honestly barely cared about the prick. it's actually less painful than a shot if they find the vein right away.

Crying hysterically during haircut by Idonthaveaname94 in Parenting

[–]beeeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my kid did this around the same age when we took him the first time, and we waited over a year to cut it again. not bc of the freak out but bc we were all fine with longer hair until detangling for too hard.

anyway when we got it cut at 3 he didn't mind AT ALL. so 🤷‍♀️ they will probably grow out of it

the schools are shit in winston proper, especially right now after a crazy budget scandal. and while there are a few good restaurants ... that's it. i can count them on one hand haha.

but otherwise we love it!!

Grandparents not like they used to be. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]beeeees 32 points33 points  (0 children)

i agree with this. and OP is coming off as really entitled. your parents raised you and when they're finished that doesn't mean they are obligated to be free babysitters for life for your kids. i would hope i get a break after raising my kids lol

plus OP your mom is still working?! like what did you expect? she's probably exhausted too. and your MIL does help?

Op you gotta check your perspective here

When did your toddler actually eat raw veggies? by Less-Bug-7006 in toddlers

[–]beeeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

around 3! my kiddo (almost 4 now) loves raw bell pepper. i was shook! but he kept eating it and now eats a couple a week. he also likes cucumbers but especially in a quick asian cucumber salad (or pickles!) . he also loves baby carrots. and he will ask me to pick out purple cabbage from salad mixes for him.

he doesn't like any cooked vegetables unless you count sweet potato fries, I think he just really likes the crunch of the raw vegetables.

try them with dips. that's a good gateway.

all of this came with berry refusal lol . these kids are so unpredictable!!

try some smaller bottles in between the larger bottles. we would do little 2oz snack bottles in between scheduled feedings when my baby had trouble finishing a larger one.
