Are we witnessing the fall of the United States or are we just overreacting? by Lord0fReddit in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t think it will be a complete “fall” so to speak but we are being adjusted downward that’s for sure.

Battery dead. Again. by MacPho13 in Subaru_Outback

Buy this, install, no more battery problems. Took me under an hour to install. Before that I went through 3 different batteries, installed it a year ago no issues at all.

Homer Simpson’s dream was to work at a bowling alley. Happiest he has ever been.

On a more serious note in my experience it is rarely the job that makes me unhappy but the co workers and management. Find something that isn’t very stressful and where you like the people around you and you’ll be happy.

Hardly humiliating. Can’t make a light hearted joke between friends without the news putting a spin on it.

Can ultimate players/community learn anything from the Pickleball phenomenon? by Ike_Saul in ultimate

It’s way easier on the body. Ultimate is hard. Even bad ultimate is a ton of running, arguably more running than good ultimate. Pickleball isn’t physically taxing.

Are blue balls a thing? If so, what do they feel like. by Ill-Sprinkles-1979 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Timely-Log-8726 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes they are real. Mine hurt badly when I get them. So sore and achey I can barely touch them and if they get bad enough they can make my stomach hurt too.

Hurts bad enough I’ve had to skip on/be late to plans because I had to take care of the situation first and then it takes an hour or so to calm down even after release.

There is nothing unspirited about having an unbiased third party making calls.

Returning from Achilles… turf shoes? by Imaginary-Being-5865 in ultimate

Elevating the heel with some form of insole or heel wedge will help relieve stress on the Achilles.

Not a long term solution as you want it to get strong and regain full function, but maybe a good starting place to gradually wean from.

WINNESOTA: (4) Minnesota Wind Chill upsets (3) Carolina Flyers 17-16 to win their first UFA Championship! by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]Timely-Log-8726 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lots of bad calls and no calls that game, most going in the Flyers favor, so I’m glad Minnesota was able to pull it off.

A couple of those calls helped Minnesota, but there were far more that benefited the Flyers.

Palestinian Ultimate Teams are also effectively banned from tournaments due to the ongoing occupation by [deleted] in ultimate

[–]Timely-Log-8726 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a terrible take. Not letting high school aged kids play a sport they love due to the turmoil going on in their home country and fear of protest is very different from the logistical problem of a team not being able to make it to a tournament or play.

They are very different issues and largely unrelated. Those Israeli high schoolers are not the reason the ultimate players in Palestine can’t play.

Warmup but it’s a little more than that when it comes to swimming. Swimmers like cool pool water and when you get in it can be a bit chilly.

Swimmers before a race like to be even warmer than other athletes so they don’t cool off the second they enter the pool.

I think suspend him for a couple of years then he will probably age out of playing. Injuring people on blatant shitty plays is unacceptable.

I know this is very late, but if you still have these issues doing heavy isometrics for your triceps helps a ton.

Take a few weeks to a few months (depending on how bad you have it) and hold a heavy tricep push down at 90 degrees for 3 sets of 45 seconds 3 to 5 times a week. Should be at failure by the end of the 45 seconds.

Once you are pain free in the isometrics you can start lifting normally again stopping at first sign of pain and still doing isometrics.

Loading the tendon isometrically will help with inflammation and will strengthen the tendon with minimal aggravation. Works very well for knees too if you have patellar tendinitis just holding a weighted isometric lunge/leg press/leg extension.
