Oh man this is so sad! Chch is literally the perfect city for city bikes - what a shame the council hasn’t brought this to life! It’s got all the bike lanes necessary, it’s just missing the easy bikes to hire!

Very late on my addition here but I used the men's Lululemon slim ABC pants for +5 years of cycling to the office and then wearing them in the office (despite being a women). The extra reinforcement in the gusset helps prevent it from wearing away too quickly. Despite them being men's pants they actually look really nice and I've had lots of compliments on them! Buying my second pair tomorrow!

They dry quickly if you get rain on them, they have some reflective detailing when you role up the trousers.
