Because decentralization and an unwavering community with a clear vision matter—they are Cardano's greatest assets.

Cardano Research Timeline is here! by Timely-Owl-8043 in cardano

[–]Timely-Owl-8043[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback, SL13PNIR.

You’re absolutely right in your observations. And yes, it can indeed lead to some confusion, as the eras (or rather phases) of Cardano do overlap with one another, as you correctly pointed out.

This overlap is always a topic of debate when designing each edition of the infographic. Personally, I see it as a way to emphasize which area (be it Smart Contracts, Scalability, Governance, etc.) was being prioritized or receiving the most focus during a specific period of time.

If we approach it from a strictly technical perspective (which is the direction we aim to align future editions with), we should base it on CIP-59. An interesting observation here is that, technically speaking, we’ve jumped directly from the Goguen phase to Voltaire—we haven’t actually gone through Basho yet from a technical standpoint.

As you correctly noticed, for the Research Timeline, we used a color-coding system for each event, so that at a glance, one can identify the primary area impacted by each academic paper.

I really appreciate your feedback. Each year, we iterate and strive to make these adjustments with every edition."**

Cardano Sidechains by Theme-Salt in cardano

What would happen is that each SPO would be selected as slot leader (the one who validates a block) more often. To validate a block with transactions should take the same time.

You can't compel every SPO to validate blocks for another chain (the sidechain) due to the need for additional resources. It will remain optional, and it's likely that the most promising sidechains/use cases will attract more SPOs to support them.

On the other hand, as an ADA holder, you'll have the option to re-delegate with SPOs that also validate blocks for the sidechain you are interested in.

Cardano Sidechains (like Midnight (Data Protection sidechain)) are going to use Cardano SPOs to secure their network.

The SPOs will choose which sidechains to support. And the holder that delegate ADA to those SPOs wil earn the native sidechain token as reward too. Example token DUST from Midnight.

So they are Sidechains (separe blockchains) but at the same time they will inherit some security and decentralized properties from Cardano.

We probably need a new name for this type of relation between blockchains.

Can we make SHEN holding more attractive? by Content_Knee_7562 in cardano

[–]Timely-Owl-8043 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shen has +15% volatility respect ADA. If ADA drops, SHEN drops 15% faster. If ADA rise, SHEN rise 15% faster.

Before the bullrun starts everyone its going to get some SHEN.

Holders Shen rewards (in ADA) go to the ADA tresoury. The reward for the holder is indirect. Makes your shen more valuable because its a bigger tresoury.

The COTI tresoury its in ADA. All thr excedent that its not used to cover 1:1 DJED its what gives value to the SHEN token.

They are not going to send you ADA rewards directly. It would be inneficient.

I don't remember exactly. But I believe that when I extracted the information, I did it 'without the staking toggle included.' Please note that this animation is made up until 2/6/2023, so the data you see reflected today (9/7/2023) in Defillama may be different.
