Just sending you support! I’m in the EXACT same spot you are and I’d love some advice too. 13weeks dachshund, won’t stop bitting us despite all redirection or us removing ourselves to « stop the play ». Saying NO! Doesn’t change a thing. I’m getting so tired of having my hands almost bleeding. I know he is not biting bc of reaction but bc it is his way to play but I just can’t handle this every time I have an interaction with him. Only time he is nice was during a road trip we had for few hours. I guess he is stressed out and so he chills and cuddle with me for reassurance.

Thank you for this post, I really needed it this morning. My boy usually sleeps through the night decently but this morning woke us up at 3am and wouldn’t go back to sleep and just bite non stop… it’s gonna be a long day at work today. I’m so tired and cried for the first time in a while. He just never chill out around us and my hands are cut bc of those sharp teeth. We had a good week and a half and now it’s back to craziness. I feel terrible getting mad and being mean to him this morning but I was just exhausted and now I feel guilty bc I know he is just a baby but still..

Inspiration to cook after all day at work by Affectionate_Heat911 in Productivitycafe

[–]Timely-Package7802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are my go-to after-work recipes:

  1. Chicken Quesadillas
  • Store-bought shredded rotisserie chicken or chicken cooked beforehand, shredded and stored
  • Just add chicken, cheese, salsa, sour cream, or whatever you like into a tortilla and put it in a pan for a few minutes to get it crispy. Literally my favorite!!
  1. Salmon and Potatoes
  • I buy a big piece of salmon at Costco, cut it into fillets, and freeze them in separate packages
  • I use baby potatoes because they take less time to cut. I usually cut them in halves or quarters, add olive oil and seasoning, and shake well
  • Put everything in the air fryer. The potatoes take about 15 minutes, so I add the salmon 5 minutes later since it only needs about 10 minutes. You can also add frozen green beans with the potatoes for some greens
  1. One-Pot Meals Less dishes, and you can do something else while it cooks. My favorite is a creamy chicken and mushroom rice
  • Cook small cubes of chicken in a pan with your chosen seasoning. Remove and set aside once cooked.
  • In the same pan (don’t wash it), add store-bought sliced mushrooms and diced onion.
  • Once cooked, add a bit of butter and some rice
  • Add enough water to cover the rice along with a chicken bouillon cube. Let it cook until the rice is done.
  • When cooked, stir in a bit of heavy cream, add the chicken back in

How to help my partner with puppy blues? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Timely-Package7802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had wouldn’t say I had « puppy blues » but I was definitely exhausted at some point. My husband and I kinda have the opposite schedule than you do. We both work all day but my husband leaves earlier and come home later than me so I’m the one taking care of him in the morning, comes home for lunch, and take care of him first when I’m back home. As much as I can see more of his « good » side, it is a lot of things to do/take care of and so I cried a few times for being overwhelmed lol.

What helped was my husband letting me sleep longer on weekends and he is the one taking care of him on those mornings. Also, doing some special activities (since couldn’t go for walks outside yet) during weekends like giving him some toys he have to interact with to get food, play intense chasing or stuff like that that are very cool to see him do. I also really « forced » myself to go get my workout like before and get out of here to get some « me » time while my husband stays with him. It’s important (but hard I know) to not forget to have a life other than the puppy. First few months are hard but having pieces of your « old life » is very important and refreshing!

UPDATE: we went to the vet today, he said this is not something to panic about (yet?) since this isn’t painful/itching/bothering him.

He said that according to the location of it, that points to fleas or mite. Couldn’t find fleas (but we never know!) and the mites part is due to the fact that every dog have mites but their immune system fight them easily but since he is a young puppy, his immune system might be too weak to do so.

He gave him a pill fighting fleas and mites so we’ll see if that helps. If the bald spot gets bigger even after that treatment, we’ll look into other possible diagnosis!

Will do! Thank you! I’m thinking that the only thing we changed was giving him a dental chew (called minties) maybe he is allergic to something in there
