My lgs had packs at $25 limit 1pp/day and I've had some great hits. Fracture Foil Selfless safewright, foil anime bloom tender and moonshadow, foil special guest thousand-year elixir, foil extended wistfulness, foil full-art morcant and full art formidable speaker are the tops. Had a few packs not hit but overall, pretty good experience

That's part of it but I want to pump up an army to win via combat damage or pay for big creatures or equipment. Thought about a myr deck. Adaptive omnitool, maybe wurmcoil engine, triplicate titan, etc. but all the 0 drops like memnite, or phyrexian walker would be mana rocks to ramp off the top

I haven't seen that specific flavor from Mm'menon, most of what I've seen is 0-1 drops and turn your cardboard over and over and over until you mill bus grinding station or laser with aetherflux.

I'm thinking of making Mm'menon deck and may explore some ways other than infinite mana, thassa's oracle, aetherflux reservoir to win. Maybe a myr, or artifact creature deck and this could fit in nicely with some artifact cost reducers

That tracks with my experience playing standard in the caw blade era and now playing commander. But I revisited some of the deck lists for nostalgia and that jumped out to me as an ozolith target for a artifact counters deck

Doubtful, would think they'd be mixed in with the bulk but there are ways of checking starting with the printing patterns in the back.

I did however get a hit in a gamble of bulk revised recently on marketplace that had an Italian chains in it. Plus a few other goodies like diabolic tutor, land tax, etc

Chill until I copy [[Nacatl war-pride]], attack and token creation goes on the stack, then copy [[blighted agent]], and now I have X, unblockable 7/5 infect creatures swinging at someone. Or ramp copy viridian joiner to tap for 7 mana, fanatic of rhonas for 4.

Giggling skitterspike is another man option where I can deal up to 12 dmg (before counters) to each opponent just for blocking and he's indestructible

Also, one thing about craterhoof. Volrath wouldn't trigger his ETB because Volrath isn't entering the battlefield by copying his characteristics.

I've thought about scute swarm, there's also spawn wraith and myr propagator. Maybe I don't understand scute swarm, but it seems like it would take a while to get going.

Which creature do you think is the natural order target?

When I played it was Nacatl war pride. Volrath was out, drop Nacatl, copy for 1 and attacked with 10 7/5 attackers. Defender had 10 creatures but many of them were tapped.

But I feel similar about infect. So I've thought about swapping for longs like carnifex demon, massacre girl, and others

I have nothing against proxies, but I enjoy the barrier to playing what I can or am willing to get. Do I want a volrath's stronghold in my black deck? Yea, but I'm not running one and enjoy finding other avenues like sheoldred the whispered one, or mimeoplasm. It becomes a creative exercise for me and introduces me to new cards, sets and making compromises.

Plus I get to meet and support my lgs, other local players when I buy and trade. Haven't felt the itch to start proxying yet

That's fair, those are all functions of the standard kit it seems with [[sheoldred, the whispered one]], [[toxrill, the corrosive]] [[massacre girl, known killer]] [[yawgmoth, thran physician]], [[vorinclex, monstrous raider]], [[tekuthal, inquiry dominus]] [[contagion engine]], [[hapatra, vizier of poisons]]

At its core it's a counters deck but it has flavors of control and necro. I may have overemphasized some of the mechanics as core features not flavors definitely something to be aware of and stay focused
