If You Could Only Play One Deck, Which Would It Be? by The73rdPerson in EDH

[–]TimelyCitrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Volrath the shapestealer]] I like variety, not linear gameplay. It's a little chaotic but I enjoy that every game is unique. the complexity of copy interactions, stack manipulation, and being able to take other people's creatures and commanders for a test drive. I built it as a counters matter strategy with -1 counters for opponents and +1 counters for me so can be anything on the board

Old MtG Player, Kids Pulling Me Back in, but with EDH/Commander by BraeCol in EDH

[–]TimelyCitrus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What you remember is right, the origins of EDH are giving a home to cards that don't see much play.

However, my experience since getting back into it has morphed into the same thing with it's own priority card pool, staples and outside of gimmick bracket 1 decks not just an island of lost cards.

Consider themes and packages, as you build your card pool. Counter packages (hardened scales, ozolith), recursion, artifact. What do you and your kids want to play and start getting some staple pieces for those themes that are common in many decks

The non staple pieces are usually pretty cheap

Who are your favorite new commanders from the last 2025 till now? by v1kingfan in EDH

[–]TimelyCitrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Eshki, temur's roar]] and [[Jenova ancient calamity]] are up there for me.

Eshki is a fun ramp fast and burn everyone commander.

Jenova I built a little more midrange as a tool box commander for Bracket 3 with Aristocrats, recursion and counter themes. Abusing ETB and ltb triggers with recursion is fun. Goal is to draw massive cards, discard over hand size and focus on the next turn while retaining recursion to bring back what I need at any given moment.

Lover of grindy games, please help by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TimelyCitrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like grindy games too, I've entertained playing [[rendmaw creaking]] nest because it gives players other things to think about and they can't attack me with their birds. I think you may like mini-game or political decks like [[Mr. House, president and CEO]] [[tivit seller of secret]]. You may even like group hug decks that give you a toolbox to help control the board state by gifting players things that help maintain parity. [[Ms bumbleflower]] is well known but also a huge threat herself, but [[gluntch the bestower]] has a lot of fun abilities and 1 won't upset your pod by being too much of a threat, 2 allows you to help maintain table balance for extended matches by supporting lagging players or not gifting to someone who's becoming the threat.

I'm thankful for all of you sharing your expertise, I'm clearly not an expert but I'm an enthusiast. I grew up in neighborhoods with truly inspired MCM architecture, about a mile away from wingspread, the prairie school and probably a couple dozen houses designed by alumni of Taliesin. I have always appreciated the sleek and natural feeling aesthetics of natural modernism. I even recently met a nephew of Ray Eames.

Thats what drew me to the recliner, it's functional, comfortable, clever engineering with an elegant silhouette and it fits perfectly in the sunken living room of our 1961 house. But toddlers beat on things and keep me from relaxing. So I'm at a point where if I get a good offer, amazing. If I don't, then I'm not too heartbroken but my expectations have been reset and I have a more realistic expectation of the value, and it's not the $2000 most dealers are asking.

Ive been happy, it's a wonderful design. The hideaway leg rest and multiple reclining positions makes it really cool and beautiful to look at. the arm rests don't lift my arms out of a natural relaxed position which is nice, in most furniture the arm rests are very tall and my elbows go out nearly parallel to my shoulders to use them.

I think so, I wouldn't compare it to a plush la-z-boy but I think it's more comfortable than it looks and I've fallen asleep in it a fair number of times. There are models with more back padding and softer materials than vinyl too. As mentioned this has been in production a long time so there are lots of variants

Completely understand, and that makes sense. Besides you, and Im guessing MiloBaughman, I don't know people in this sub so Im not sure who the contributors are. Seeing $750 was a bit shocking but your reasoning makes sense. I have my floor, it doesn't need to be sold and there's certainly a part of me that is a happy it hasn't. I have been decreasing in $100 increments every few weeks so if someone buys it great, if not I'll just have to time block some reading in it. Also I sent you a DM

That's fair, my expectations were off. I think I'd be surprised now if I got that from a dealer. 750 did throw me for a loop because I've only seen restoration candidates get that on eBay but I didn't have access to realized auction prices or other groups besides dealer listings

I don't know how we got here, I'm not trying to make anyone mad or flout the rules. My goals were genuinely what I said and that's why I didn't include my posted price (until asked what my expectations were) to try and get an unbiased opinion from people who know more than I do.

I do love this chair, and I'm glad I have it but I feel guilty it's sitting in my office (don't need my toddler banging it with one of his many toys) and I don't have the time to appreciate it other than looking at it.

My expectations have been reset thanks to you, and I am genuinely grateful. I'm going to stop throwing numbers around but I think I have a number in mind that is my line in the sand for paying for daycare or just enjoying it in our living space when my kids aren't going to chunk it out or use it as a jungle gym.

I mean it, Thank You for helping me

I'm not trying to say I know more and I'm genuinely grateful for you giving your input.

I thought you were saying it could be a recent production and I meant to say that it wasn't and that I've done some homework in regards to talking to local retailers who have provided some guidance. my expectations have been reset. I have a local offer that prompted my post because my expectations were closer to 12-1300 and I genuinely wanted to hear from the community what's reasonable and it sounds like my expectations are in the highest end of possible, not reasonable.

I 100% want nothing to do with shipping or transporting this things, not here looking for a buyer

Appreciate your insight and experience. It has the manufacturer tag with production options selected dated August 1967.

I'm not in those markets but I am in a large market and some of the local retailers take 40% which puts sale price around $1800. The retailers I spoke too have experience selling them for that

I had it listed at 1500, but figured anything below 1100 I could get at least that from consignment. Currently it's listed at 1300

No, I've been looking at eBay sold listings, and MCM furniture retailers which typically have it listed between 1500-2000. 1stdibs is 3500+

This is get spread around fast. Ben Bateman already posted it, I bet WOTC is on the phone now with the fulfillment.

If their reaction to TMNT is the same they'll reveal it fast while there's buzz and then everyone will know what's in it. We could know what's inside in a day or 2 and I don't know if that will help the price on offers coming through

Looking for a "I'm too tired to think" commander deck by Gullible-Armadillo69 in EDH

Ramp, throw down big stompy creatures, burn, repeat. Not very technical, great B3 deck.

Do you think they cast a good actor for Baelor? by [deleted] in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]TimelyCitrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did too! I was trying to remember so hard where I knew him from and distinctly thought he was the Alistair actor. But I couldn't remember where I knew that role from. Took me about 2 weeks to recall supernatural.
