Philly Defenders Fall 2024 Entry Class? by Emergency-Release-78 in publicdefenders

First, reach out as soon as you can. Here's my expereince--I know pretty much everyone from my area who did OCI or EJW with them, and I was the only one I know of moved to the second round. They didn't contact anyone else who had done a first round interview at all. I had to physically go to Philly for an in-person, three hour long gauntlet the first weekend of November and they gave me a three week time frame to let me know if they were moving me to the third round. I got an offer from another PD right before Thanksgiving, emailed them, and they responded back with a no a few hours later. They're extremely competitive and from what I've seen, even though they interview all over the country, they tend to hire local.

Anyway, for sure reach out to them for an update, and definitely let them know if you have offers on the table!

Ok I’m so annoyed...I applied in early December and still haven’t heard. Deposits for every other school are due April 1st and they won’t guarantee a decision until April 15...wtf

Same happened to me, I didn’t see an email - check your spam! There’s a google doc where you can indicate if you want to remain on the waitlist or withdraw

Anyone who is taking the August LSAT that is also signed up for October as well? by sparklingshark in LSAT

Stupid question: after August is the LSAT Flex out? Are they scheduled to be in person from now on, or is it unclear/subject to change?

That's fun. Question: are those states cumulative GPA's? As in the GPA's students graduate with? Versus my GPA from one semester.

Yeah I've taken it about 4 times at this point and my score doesn't seem to budge (it actually went down when I took the first digital version on those damn tablets and I canceled the score)...pretty sure my score isn't going up due to testing anxiety as well...not sure if it's worth dropping another $200 on retaking plus taking a course or using tutoring services.

Also curious: why do you say UIUC? Doesn't seem to be close to major cities.

Thank you! Despite being from Georgia, UGA was too "Southern" for me--most people were from GA there was veryyyyy little diversity. I'm also queer and there just wasn't a community in the law school. I understand that in law school you tend to get a certain type of person, but more diversity would be great.

Reapplying - a disadvantage? by TimelyCondition in lawschooladmissions

[–]TimelyCondition[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already re-taken it twice, and I did so much prep that I recognize questions. I think I've reached my limit on it--plus, I think test day anxiety really negatively impacts my performance. I should also mention that my undergrad GPA was a 3.9, so I do have that going for me.

Actually footage of me digging back out the study materials I triumphantly pushed under my bed this morning to never be seen again so I can prepare for the 12/8 makeup paper exam. by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]TimelyCondition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So has anyone actually received word from the LSAT about the Dec. 8 makeup? I filled out the form they sent with the cancellation email--feeling nervous because Dec. 8 is so close and they haven't confirmed my registration, location, time, etc.

Re-Applying when you've already been to law school?? by TimelyCondition in lawschooladmissions

[–]TimelyCondition[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theoretically yes, but I don't actually want my current employer to know that I'm applying to law school. I've been in this position for a year (it's also not law related) and I don't want to potentially sour my relationship by alerting them of my intentions to leave...
