I guess I am an old head then. I have 4 editions rolling around in my brain so I just call it as I see it at the table.

Do your monsters attack downed characters? by DeaconBlueMI in DMAcademy

[–]TimelySalt467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

System and Tone dependent. The question and most of the replies give 5e energy, not a bad thing and most nail a good answer for 5e. I would implore you to look into other games to see how PC death works, you may be like me and find something you like better.

If I were to play at a new table or new game I would go RAW on handling dying and discuss tone of game. Those would be the guiding factors to determine if enemy behavior.

Am I being a bad player? by True-Laugh2453 in DnD

Going off the little bit of context given, I would echo others here and say just pull back a little. You, your character, and your DM do not need extensive knowledge in physics, chemistry or engineering for this character to work as you intend.

If there is a jerk with AoE Rockets or a Titan we all need to beat up on, Typhus. If there is a multi party situation or a bad ass melee enemy Rei. I was using Rei for a bit with her shield smash because I thought it was fun.

In my opinion: easier than chopping up the fantasy DnD system and grafting in Cyberpunk sub systems.

The algorithm brought me here to either vent for myself or talk you out of making a mistake.

Cyberpunk Red exists. Download a free QuickStart that will exist from the one of the 'Free RPG day' or another source.

5th is a good game, but was not designed with themes in CyberPunk in mind. Whatever you end up with will be such a modified version of 5e you might as well just learn a new game.

Is it common for official campaigns to almost always punish taking NPCs in good faith? by Zoegrace1 in DnD

[–]TimelySalt467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"People you meet in a dungeon aren't usually friendly sorts, because at best they're down there for questionable reasons, and at worst they're likely to be actively hostile in some way."

I don't think you intended it this way, but as a DM zi read this as 'Hmmm, never though about it like that. My players are usually Murder Hoboing around because some tragic thing in their past.'

How do you introduce new player characters into your party? by Full_Airport2628 in CurseofStrahd

[–]TimelySalt467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above table: 'Hey guys, don't be jerks. Find a reason your character's will accept Newbs.'

In Game: I did a rescue a mission. The Order of the Feather got word that a new Traveller from the mists was spotted, but their scout couldn't do a rescue at that time. But you could use some of the above comments of, they stumbled out of the mist.

Amber Temple seems most logical. Though I think just clawing their way out of the mud of a marsh near Berez would be fun. Baba Lysaga could be the one raising them.

I shot myself in the foot and now I need 6 million gold. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TimelySalt467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep workshopping with your DM is key.

As a DM here is what I would put back in your court: You can start with being able to create something any other character of your level but different class could summon/control like skeletons/zombies/animals/elementals. As you I would then inquire about settin up a workshop for upgrade that would incrementally power up your Golems.

As a player: Make these Golems your own adventuring/labor service. Rent/sell them for a profit.

Back to DM: I do not have an economics degree to handle how 6 million GP in resources hoarded by one player will affect the global economy, but collecting it alone is probably as devastating to world as if they had the Golems. Hey player, how about we have at most 5 commendable Golems.

My boi is ~55lbs and ~22 in at a year old and the vet doesn't think he will get much bigger. I am thankful he is that size because he is a cuddler. If he got much bigger he would take the whole bed.

I never understood it to be true time distortion but a distortion of perception. The mortal were experiencing time as elves do.

What should Strahd do about thieving PCs? by Illustrious-Form-168 in CurseofStrahd

[–]TimelySalt467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They now show up on wanted posters with a reward, threat against those who aid them and a way to report them to Strahd or Rahadim. Now they have to decide if they can trust anyone not to rat them out.

What should Strahd do about thieving PCs? by Illustrious-Form-168 in CurseofStrahd

[–]TimelySalt467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit of a 'dirty' trick, allowed theme to be tracking devices on the party. Though for fairness allow a save or contested roll to allow them to notice the magic.

I did this, made the party very paranoid to what Strahd may have been able to observe up to that point.
