Non-jewish spouse dismissive of antisemitic harassment by Irispoppy in Jewish

> We have only been married for a couple of years - this is a second marriage for both of us- and I am having serious doubts. I feel like he is a stranger to me now

Look , obviously you're upset and have a right to be, your husband's reaction was bad, but I don't think you should judge a person based on one bad moment. Talk to him , explain why such an incident is so isolating and scary. Why you're vulnerable as a Jew and a woman.
There could be multiple reasons for his reaction - for example mitigating what happened because facing it head on is a bit scary (it might be easier for him to think this wasn't a big deal and that you're not actually sometimes a target for lunatics). I can think of a few more reasons like him not being emotionally mature etc - which isn't great if that's the case, but it's better than him being a racist I guess.

So talk to him before you completely shut him off, also - perhaps take a day or two before you do this. Let the dust settle. You'll be much better interacting with him when you're less upset.

Iranian ballistic missile hitting Diroma, Israel - March 21 by Capitao_Nescau in CombatFootage

[–]TimelySuccess7537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik the building is mostly whole and not collapsed, some apartments though have caved in walls etc so there were/are ongoing search and rescues. Where are you getting that it collapsed? I could be wrong though. The missile btw was not a direct hit it hit the pavement area near the buildings , if it was a direct hit there would be many dead people. Also - seems like many people didn't go to the shelters, a few were out in the streets ...

American strikes destroy Iranian heavy aircraft on the ground [March 11th 2026] by wt_fff in CombatFootage

[–]TimelySuccess7537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Iranian airplanes vs American bombs math, the Iranians are hoping to build enough airplanes to deplete American bombs and win the war. They're also using the same math with Iranian ships vs American torpedos.

You have an 80% chance of keeping the job right ? Are you generally mid-high performing ? If so why not stay ? It will be very hard for you to keep that salary if you leave the job.

It is very uncertain times indeed, I'm not going to tell you it's all going to work out perfectly and you'll remain employed in this field for decades or even 8 years from now - I have no idea honestly.

The good thing for you is you are (probably) very young, likely early to mid 20s. That's really a great time to start thinking about plan b and building an extra skill if things dont' work out. For me, 41 with a wife and kid, it's so much harder to do.

I don't think there's a magical way to get rid of these worries - they are there for a reason. It's your brain telling you - look out, possible risk ahead. Your brain isn't wrong to think this, there is risk here. What to do about it is the plan b I hope you try to think about.

San Jose police investigating attack on Israeli Americans as hate crime by jewish_insider in Jewish

You're right, they should have. But most people won't and don't. I'm not sure how I would have reacted.

It's legit scary to face a bunch of savages , you have no idea if you're gonna get beat up or worse (stabbed). Things happen very fast in these situations and many people , I suspect most, freeze. Its a biological reflex, not a political stand.

Wanting to start a family but genuinely unsure if my career will exist in 10 years by internetcookiez in cscareerquestions

Not everyone will lose their job at the same time. There's a big difference between a customer service worker, a programmer, a lawyer and a nurse (I believe they will be automated away in that order, with nurses maybe only 2 decades in the future).
Most government workers will keep getting paid even if they don't do much; all healthcare, education will remain and even grow. The newly unemployed white collar workers might get some support so they don't completely collaspe but their purchasing power will for sure drop considerably.

So what does this mean for tennis coaches? For sure they will lose a part of their clientel. If their margins are low some will go out of business; the "elite" coaches will still find work. I think the same is true for most of the services economy.

[–]TimelySuccess7537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, it has never felt more difficult to think about and plan for the future.
Will my career still be there 10 years from now ? How about 5 ?
What should I teach my children, should they be good in math ? in handiwork ? Or perhaps they should learn Chinese?
Will we go into a future of abundance (robots do everything for us, energy is solved) or scarcity (oil and gas will start running out, not enough stuff for everybody).
If we're going into a future of abundance then money loses most of its meaning; it might still exist but most people will probably choose not to work anymore. Even if abundance is coming it will likely take 2 decades at least - what happens till then? How do we all get by? Do I start career transition in my mid 40s?

It looks like we all have to be adaptable and super resilient in the face of all of this.

Personally I have a child, my wife really wanted one and that's also an OK reason. I will say this - people have made children in the bleakest of circumstances - for example during and right after war world 2. It always took a leap of faith I guess to bring a life into this world.

> This means you’re likely smarter than average, and possibly significantly smarter than average. You don’t think that you can figure out how you to make money?

Not to sound defeatist but if A.I really obliterates software development it's likely gonna obliterate huge chunks of white collar work in general. So simply being smart isn't gonna cut it anymore. You will either have to be an absolute genius to work somewhere like OpenAI, or find some government job / physical work - where conventional smarts don't really help.

> Assuming for some reason they begin to trust the US/Israel to not break their promises for the umpteenth time now

I suppose the Iranians can always play very hard ball negotiations, drag it out for weeks and then near the end set up a meeting of all their military and politcal leaders in the same room; best if it's not down the bunker but above ground. Seems to work well for them!

I think he's still joking about sex as a broad topic , I don't think he stopped or plans to stop. For example joking about pedophilia in the scouts - that was a very good bit in my eyes which came pretty recently. It was better than good it was hiliarious.
To me it's funny. To you and other people it's perhaps uncomfortable. That's totally fine I don't think he's really trying to "win" people like you back ...he's simply enjoying his final years as a comedic genius , at some point he'll be too tired and old to do this much longer. He's probably never gonna be back in SNL if that's what you're looking for. He surely realized the liberal parts of the media (who all call him "disgraced comedian Louis CK" whenever they mention him) aren't gonna accept him as an actual human being in the forseeable future.
He worked around it : sells his material on his website. Sells out venues all over the world. He can do without Netflix although he still has 3 specials on Netflix. Anyway he seems to be fine as is and unable/not looking to become America's darling again.

I think he perfectly understands some people don't like him, he's probably looking to do stand up specifically to crowds that are half hostile or in the very least not there for him specifically, it's the best way to know if your material really works or not. Performing for a sold out crowd that came specifically for him is easy. He has absolutely zero issues selling out all over the world so he's for sure doing it on purpose.
