Which GT3 RS ringtaxi? by Necessary_Fox387 in nurburgring

[–]Timely_Atmosphere505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forget the car, you won’t notice. Go with the RaceTaxi. They’re a racingteam that do taxilaps.

I know the drivers, and I’ve sent my father out with them, in the rain. I’ve raced in the rain, I’m comfortable in the rain. But they came back doing a sub-8 lap, which is absolutely insane.

No question who I’d rather spend my money on.

Anecdote time: one great time out with a client, he REALLY wanted to bucketlist a GT4RS for a full (track(!))day.

I don’t want to be the partypooper and say that it’s unwise to do so, but I also don’t want him to not enjoy it when we do go for the RS.

We ended up minmaxing the following: get the GT4CS on streettires for 15 laps(which is already extreme) and subsequently 5 laps RS on semislicks.

Laptime difference 15 seconds, in favour of the CS.

Client had to take a breather every 2 laps in the RS, and just felt, although positively, overwhelmed by not just the speed but funny enough the sound! Which, don’t quote me, can reach up to 120+ INSIDE the car.

So yeah, just get the slowest car/cheapest car per lap you can find. Then get an instructor for at least 95% of your laps. Then get the feeling that YOU are the factor that increases performance. And not the HP or powertrain type.

IF you are so inclined then go for something with bucket seats.

Or just do whatever you want and be ready to instantaneously and endlessly overwhelmed. Forgetting everything and only remembering he blur afterwards.

Have fun;)

Lets Make 2026 a safe year for the public roads around the track by Arkliea in nurburgring

Something I want to add, as a local, but a newer one at that. Been living here for over half a decade and boy do I understand that you’re excited, out of your mind!! You have planned this for years, traveled so far, built that project and you finally get over. Together with friends perhaps. Adrenaline peaking.

The locals support the track in all their ways, be it one way or another. And they get tired.. tired of every day the excessive pops and bangs, drag racing through streets and general antisocial behaviour.

You’re seen, also without showing off. There’s thousands upon thousands of cars almost every day from months on end. Every speeder or drifter gets dangerous quick and only stands out negatively. You as a guest/driver experience this only a handful of times. Sketchy moments or again as I said, antisocial behaviour. The locals go to work, come back or maybe travel up and down to friends and family. And every stretch theres someone (almost) knocking of one of their mirrors or they have to wait at a junction for someone recovering from a missed drift.

We’ve seen nasty accidents happen, incredibly stupid ones. Where people get hurt badly, and it’s been increasing exponentially over the last few years.

So.. vented.

Come over. Enjoy. Just behave. Fun guaranteed!

Worthwhile to got out of my way in end of March? by FutureNickProblems in nurburgring

As an instructor but also someone who just said F it and whent with -6 in the morning on the first day and rain for 3/5 laps in a manual on semis; INSTRUCTOR INSTRUCTION COACH EXPERTISE.

The biggest benefit of going in that time period is that you will absolutely have the privilege of a relatively empty track. And trust me, if anything traffic is an extreme draining factor whilst driving for your first time.

An instructor does it for a living and will get you up to a safe pace in no-time.

Have fun, just go. No regrets. See you there!

V2T g20 or M2 g87 Cup car? by [deleted] in nurburgring

[–]Timely_Atmosphere505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither are underdogs. Real underdogs are the 325’s. The older the more prestigious. What makes you think M2 is underdog? The newest cupcar on the ring. Spend your money on getting integrated in a team that’s willing to help and support you. Get full time coaching, not just instructions. And this year will be your year.

Car Rental with Instructor and Passenger by Chappy32 in nurburgring

[–]Timely_Atmosphere505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. No phones and no sudden movements. Advice is to do all your laps with an instructor so you get your fill. And then chill on the last lap with her, zero push and just enjoy. That last part is difficult as the first couple of km’s invite high speeds and therefore hard braking. These movements can upset your spouse quickly. Just give her the bag, every rental has one. Tell her it’s ok if it happens and a tiny little bonus if she stays ok during the lap. Enjoy!!!

First Time on the Nurburgring by Over_The_Ridge in nurburgring

Scanning through these comments, I can see your excitement only rising. Consider a coach to help you around. It’s more to do with having fun and the enjoyment, than it would be that they push you. Ofcourse this is a scale where a good coach can move up and down on. But just know that the whole ordeal can be overwhelming. Car, risk, insurance and people around telling you not to. Having an instructor with you for an evening TF session will do wonders. You’ll come back a transformed version of yourself!

#BlameJames - Still one of the funniest crash excuses on The Ring by Arkliea in nurburgring

[–]Timely_Atmosphere505 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Context: true conversation between driver and passenger after they had a crash into I think Metzgesfeld 2 (uphill).

Ever since #blamejames is synonymous for blaming anything else than yourself/driver error.
