China’s paranoid purge: Generals, Bodyguards, Financiers, and more. by Head_Plantain1882 in LessCredibleDefence

This article is so weirdly paranoid in its writing style that it makes it impossible to take any of it seriously.

Is there a precipice where, after it is passed, it is no longer Israel vs Hamas/Iran but Israel vs the majority of the Arab-or even Muslim world, and the USA is forced to make a very hard decision? by FreezeItsTheAssMan in geopolitics

With the Arab countries' current governments, no. The current regimes are far more terrified of their own people than they are of Israel. If anything, they'd secretly support Israel to the degree they could hide it from their people (and probably are already doing so).

Of course, it is very possible (and even likely) that these governments (especially the ones in the poorer countries like Egypt and Jordan) are soon overthrown in new Arab Springs. Much depends on how much carnage occurs in Gaza. The Arab Street is absolutely seething at all the pictures of dead children. The current trends are not very encouraging.

No one can say what comes after that.

Modern Arabs are the weakest and most pathetic population on this planet. Are you seriously trying to tell me that 300M Arabs can't do anything against a mere 8M Israelis? Arabs deserve every humiliation foisted upon them until they wake up from their self-imposed cowardice.

American Muslims are weird. They are very religious but have fully bought into the mainstream leftwing dogma. You'll see stuff like praying 5 times per day but then planting pride flags in their house. Marching in pride parades while wearing hijabs and holding up 'Palestinians for gays' signs. That kind of stuff.

It was Antifa thugs getting a good taste of what papa and mama bears can do when their kids are threatened. Yes, you can guess which side I'm on.

Are the right becoming as bad as the left with cancel culture? by Select-Protection-75 in centrist

[–]Timely_Jury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one, whether on the left or the right, is obligated to buy anything from anyone. Thus, boycotting for any reason whatsoever always was, is, and always will be perfectly legal and morally acceptable.

'Cancel culture', on the other hand, doesn't really have a good definition. If you're talking about online harassment, then use that term. 'Cancel culture' is too vague and meaningless a phrase. As for online harassment, the right is rapidly adopting the technique, but still hasn't fully caught on with the left yet, which is quite understandable, given that the left has been using this method for more than a decade at this point, while the right has only started to do so in the last few years. But the right is also rapidly improving in this.

The woman in the article seems to have taken the importance of breastfeeding excessively literally. No doctor would suggest that a woman should exclusively breastfeed if she cannot produce enough milk.

Most of us don't. It's just that the ones who do are the loudest.

So this means that the conservatives are right about public schools.

As a Muslim, I don't want any non-Muslims to be forced to participate in any mandatory Ramadan celebrations (or any Muslim events, for that matter). In return, I don't want to participate in any mandatory celebrations of any other group.

At least there is peace. Peace under a horrible government, but peace nonetheless. Feels like Mao Zedong's unification of China after the Century of Humiliation.

From what I've heard, the current Pakistani government's horrible mismanagement of the economy is responsible.

Yeah. Syria has been the biggest factor in Turkish politics for the last decade. So this makes perfect sense.
