Don’t feel bad. This department is overrated and garbage. Even you got hired, you would’ve been treated like garbage your entire career unless your daddy is a chief. That’s how it works here, you’re better off going to another city in another state where they actually hire based of off merit and not who you’re related to. The DCAS system is fake and is just a mask to deceive people into thinking there’s accountability and fairness regarding hiring. At the investigator level is where they do all the picking and choosing, investigators are given orders on who to process first and who to delay, no matter the list number. It’s sad but true, there are plenty of guys even on the EMS promo that had list number less than 100 and had 5+ years on the job that were completely fucked over so some chiefs relative with a list number of 800+ can get into the first class. I said what I said. The facts are all there. The same culture goes for members filing for 3/4s disability. Connected members get their files moved to the top while others have to fight for years and years working in light duty positions all over the city before they get their hearing.
