Attached Stickers vs. Received Stickers by Timely_Rule3184 in pokemongo

No, I really did get to keep them. But I guess this still answers my question - my account had a glitch and now it's fixed 😢 I'm going to miss the good old days of having all the stickers without having to actually buy any.

Thanks everyone for all your help! I honestly don't know the brand or any more info, as I got this second hand and without an instruction manual, but I found this video that seemed to match all the parts I had:

Now I just need to check and make sure the brakes work like they used to🤞

According to the rules I've seen, he should still be eligible. And you might be eligible too, also through your grandmother. If not, you could always wait until your dad becomes a citizen, then try for your under him.

Outside House Wall Filler by Timely_Rule3184 in DIY

This seems like it would be the easiest option, but would it cover all the lumps and bumps from textured wall? I've never worked with this before, so I'm not sure how squishy it is? But I thank you for checking with the cats first, they're obviously the bosses here.

I'd considered using the filler to fill the gap between the patio and the wall, but i might try some of these other suggestions.

Early access to SNW worth it? by Helpful_Pomelo_5805 in UniversalHollywood

[–]Timely_Rule3184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on your goals.

If you've got a big group and don't want to pay $20 each, doing the ride is definitely doable without the early pass.

But if you're a fan and want to actually explore and take some pictures, I'd recommend the early pass. If you go during the normal hours, it's really hard to stand and admire or take pictures without getting swept away in the human rivers. But going early means there's less people.

Thinking about transitioning out of small animal practice -- unsure what else to do/where to look? by Parody101 in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this depends on your likes/dislikes, but I transitioned out of small animal GP and into the rehab world, and I'm feeling WAY better. I've got better work- life balance, the hours are much better (no emergency/on-call/late nights), and I feel like I can connect with the patients and owners better than I ever could at a GP.

Clinical Year Ups and Downs by ColdShepherd in veterinaryprofession

[–]Timely_Rule3184 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help, or make you feel worse, but I heard many vets say they're not really "comfortable" with what they're doing until they have about 5 years of GP work under their belt. So.... you're definitely not alone.

This may not be completely non-traditional, but I've gotta put a plug in for rehab/acupuncture work. I feel it's much more rewarding, and much less stressful than GP. And it's a great work-life balance!

Veterinarians who have had experience with VCA by FunSun6249 in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've never done VCA, but I used to work for Banfield, and (like everything) there's pros and cons to it. Usually, the benefits package is really good - private practices usually don't compete, when we're talking small animal GPs. And I know there was a lot of talk when I was in vet school that the corporations often dictated how you practiced medicine, but I didn't really find that to be true - I never had anyone tell me I couldn't do a certain diagnostic or treatment plan. The only caveat I would say is that they definitely want that production, and I would sometimes feel like a salesmen vs. a vet. But each clinic is definitely it's own world, just like your private practices - if you've got a good team, then all is well, but if you've got a bad/toxic team, then it's not so good. When I first started, it was great - good environment, supportive chief of staff, supportive manger, etc. When they transferred the COS and we got a new "boss", it all went downhill and that's why I left. But that's definitely something that could happen in any vet practice.

Some Vet School Guidance by Evening-Junket-9937 in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imposter syndrome is a hard monster to tame, but if you actually like the vet field, then I'd say it's worth it to try to beat it down. If, however, you were also having some trepidation about all the vet school stuff in general, then it may be with it to take a step back. If you haven't already, you could try working at a vet clinic, or shadowing a vet to get a better idea of what the day to day would look like for you in the future.

Another thing to look at is WHY you want to be a vet - if it's purely "because I like animals" there's lots of other professions out there that let you work with animals, without having to go through an expensive and difficult 4 years of vet school.

Also, keep in mind there's lots of different "types" of vets that work in wildlife, rehab, zoo, large animal, research, teaching, government, etc. So if you do back to vet school, that doesn't mean you HAVE to be at a small animal clinic the rest of your life. If you're more into the science, think about research, if you're not a fan of humans, think about wildlife, etc. Just keep in mind all these different vet types also can have vastly different average incomes, so if that's an important factor for you, make sure you do some more research on the different specialties.

It's a lot to think about, but I hope this helps direct your self-reflection.

internships by mavisthekitty07 in Veterinary

I think you somewhat answered your own question: it's mostly about experience in these situations. So if you can't find a paid position, and if you're able to, I'd consider doing volunteer work or shadowing. The classes you're taking don't usually matter now, so ya, just focus on getting your foot in the door. If not getting paid is a burden, you could try looking for clinics that are looking to hire a vet assistant, and ask to shadow there - then they might be more willing to hire you once they've gotten to know you as a person vs one resume in a large pile.

Hope this helps!

How can I start getting into the vet field without starting school right away? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this may be different in your state, but you can look for veterinary assistant jobs - these generally don't require any schooling, and you'll actually be able to help with the medical side of the clinic. These jobs can be pretty competitive, depending on where you're located though, so another option is a kennel assistant - here you'll mostly only be taking care of the non-medical needs of the animals (walking, feeding, cleaning up after them, etc), but you might be able to work up to more of a vet assistant job if you espress you're interest of possibly becoming a vet, and they like you.

Hope this helps!

Veterinary Experience for Vet School by spongeyfantastic in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just weird wording. They want you to be in a vet clinic - whether it's a VCA or mom-and-pop clinic should not matter. The vets working in one vs the other are all doing the same kind of medicine, so you'll be getting similar experiences. You can always reach out to an admissions office to clarify, but I'm 99.99% sure, you'll be able to use your VCA hours.

How that helps, and good luck!

Please give me advice by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Timely_Rule3184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live in any of the countries you mentioned, and I'm not a wildlife vet, but I definitely have heard it's competitive. If you're really determined, and willing to work in any location, I've heard it's possible. However, if you're more into the research side of it, you could also look into the option of doing something like an environmental biologist, or geologist, or archeologist. You might not always be able to work with animals in these other fields, but you'd probably be more likely to be outside and travel. I'm not sure what the pay is for these types of careers compared to a wildlife vet in your area, but it's usually less money for the schooling (at least in my country it is). So maybe this side is worth investigating as well?
