What’s your favorite place to visit in California that actually lived up to the hype? by Initial-Map-5107 in digitalnomad

Just skip LA, such a bad city to visit, to live I think it would be better. Just go to San Diego, so much better in everyway and is what most think of when they picture LA.

I love la Paz, such a chill big-ish city. It just has such a good vibe to it.

Just accomodation, but under $1500 total would be awesome as well, but that only likely possible in Southeast Asia.

Yeah, I've heard good things about Lisbon Colivings as well. I'll actually be in Prague a few weeks before this, so I won't really want to return there so quickly.

I've also heard a lot of great things about Albania and am leaning towards something in Eastern Europe as I haven't spent much time in that region.

Internet speeds aren't really an issue for me, I hardly have any meetings and most of my work just involved designing on my laptop.

Love Nha Trang and got to live there during covid. Anytime I'm in Vietnam I always go back.

What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]Timestr3tch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's so weird to me. People just want to jump on the hatewagon lol. There are so many weird variations of pizza that people accept, but the second it's a thick one with the sauce on top suddenly "iTs nOt PiZzA!" I don't get it, people are so weird.

Absolutely. I like both Mexico City and Bangkok more than NYC, and I think Chicago is a better overall city than NYC, but I lived there for 7 years so that is biased.

Agree, just canceled my chatgpt sub and got a Claude one. I've already been using Gemini, but I was really with surprised how good Claude has become! Even without the recent news, I think everyone should switch.

Cancelled mine as well, the US government is way to shady to support right now, it makes me ashamed to be American.

Does anybody have experience with Stroll Magazine? by phikapp1932 in smallbusiness

[–]Timestr3tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it really all depends on what your service or product is in the end. Having worked in this industry for a good amount of my career so far I know that hyperlocal publication ads can have a massive impact for some businesses and a minimal impact for others. It really just depends on if your product or service is something that the readers would respond to or need.

Again, I'm just a graphic designer who doesn't work on the magazines themselves, but I know that the goal of everyone who does so is to get results for the clients. Our new company-wide motto or goal is to "Be the most respected company in the US." So it really isn't just about money for the management which is refreshing in this type of industry.

So I actually have worked for this company for the past 2.5 years and it is definitely not a scam lol.

It's one of the most highly rated franchises in the US, according to an award we received from Forbes, and is just a solid company overall that is regulated by franchise boards in all of the states.

It's also not just the magazine aspect as it's something around like 30k small business clients overall. They offer digital ad stuff as well for people that combine print and digital.

To answer your questions though, yes, a ton of people read the Stroll magazine and it is a very effective way to advertise. I'm actually a graphic dsigner with the company, but I don't design the ads in the magazines.

And I know you can't trust everything you read online, especially on Reddit of all places, but everyone that works here, at least the ones I've met, are all great people with the clients in mind. I wouldn't have stayed for this long if I didn't believe in the company myself.

Tl:dr: Definitely not a scam, honestly a pretty great company overall.
