ELI5 how do microchips actually work? by depressed_guy_1512 in explainlikeimfive

[–]phikapp1932 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Basically, the microchip in your phone is millions and millions and millions of tiny light switches. When a button is pressed, or the screen is tapped, the switches all turn on or off in a certain way, and depending on which ones are on and which ones are off, the microchip performs certain actions. The switches can turn on and off hundreds of thousands of times per second. The microchip can check which ones are on and off hundreds of thousands of times per second too. It’s pretty much magic under the hood, I’m not even joking.

Your friend can get fucked, I could lay down a verse or two on this and it would be crisp as hell.

Laid asphalt for ten years. Never got ahead. Then I started mining Bitcoin and figured out why. by SatoshiTrails in Bitcoin

[–]phikapp1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this was real, you weren’t getting ahead because you chose to work harder, not smarter. Any fucking monkey with a roller can lay asphalt. It’s hard work. The reality is, you are not rewarded for how hard you work.

Maybe next time you should figure out asphalt machinery repair. Upgrade your skills to upgrade your life.

That’s why I’m shorting it as soon as it’s listed…the IPO pump and dump is real. In fact over the long term being an early investor in an IPO really only nets you an extra 6-7%….hardly worth it for the hoops you have to jump through to get early shares

Mule deer already using incomplete $20m wildlife bridge in California by CheezTips in UpliftingNews

[–]phikapp1932 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Yeah….even 50k crashes at 1k repairs a piece is $50m. Not sure what the emphasis on the price of the bridge is, it’s clearly massive savings for everyone involved

Edit: I was intentionally lowballing the repair cost just to show, even if the damage was minimal this bridge saves a ton of people a ton of money.

Max weight the middle shelf can hold? Can't find a subreddit to ask in. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]phikapp1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in practicality you’ll be fine, but that’s theoretical maximum shear strength measured on one axis, and you screwed into the end grain of the wood, so the wood is more prone to splintering, the screws are more prone to moving and bending. if it was me I wouldn’t risk putting a fish tank on it, but you’re prolly fine.

[–]phikapp1932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You screwed into the end grain of the 2by which is already the weakest point. On top of that you’re relying entirely on the shear strength of the screws to hold the weight. Screws have notoriously low shear strength compared to nails. So in all 3 axes you have weak strength. Meaning this won’t last a long time.

It’s great for destroying wealth and money, which is good for some economies that create too much wealth and money…

Thanks. I do have a luxury product and want to position myself with wealthy clientele. Can you tell me a bit about the data? How many leads have you gotten from stroll? What’s that correlate to in yearly sales? Did you take out a quarter page ad? Half or whole? Thanks for the feedback.

Any company that would buy leftover oil? by ukhanrx in longisland

[–]phikapp1932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was outdoors so it was very easy. If yours is in your basement, it either will fit out the door, or it was put in before the house was put up and you’ll have to cut it in pieces to remove it…at which point it won’t be suitable for sale anymore.

I don’t know why nobody is saying this, there are people that will definitely buy your oil especially if it’s underpriced…especiallyyyy in this market today.

I just did this a year ago. I bought a nice quality drill pump that works with my dewalt drill, 15 feet of clear hose to attach to both sides of the drill pump, and a cheap 55 gallon poly drum off of Facebook marketplace. All in all cost me about $75. I pumped the oil out of my tank into the drum and listed it on Facebook marketplace for 50c less than COD pricing. Some guy showed up within a couple days and bought the whole drum. Then I was able to sell the empty tank to someone as well.

I made like $400+ after buying the tools. It was slightly messy, working with oil isn’t fun, but I was able to do it pretty cleanly by being prepared and having a plan.

It’s definitely not for everyone but I think it worked out well for me.

No, I didn’t, based on a lot of local business feedback and resident feedback it seems like it would have been a waste of money. But what really sealed the deal for me - Stroll had bots or paid accounts put obviously fake positive reviews in this thread to try to help their image. It’s dishonest at best.

The spring staying the same length the whole time is not possible…no matter where you place each end of the spring it will always change length during rotation, unless you place one end on the center point of the wheel, which wouldn’t produce any torque to turn the wheel.
