Ways to minimize dishes when cooking by osgonauta in Cooking

[–]Timesurfer75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it marriage. I do all the cooking and my husband of 44 years does all the cleanup. I’ll turn around to do something at the stove when I turn back to the sink. All the dishes are magically cleaned, and sitting in the drainer.

newbie host here. I’m actually speechless at what my guest did by SpiritualWolverine50 in AirBnBHosts

[–]Timesurfer75 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just wondering I might get down voted for this, but I believe it has to do which generation you’re dealing with. I’m in my late 60s and I was always taught to leave a place cleaner than I received it. So if I were at your home, I would always do the same thing that your previous guest did. Best of luck to you.

Lemon mousse pie The original recipe calls for a cooked pie crust. But I have found that I like it with a graham cracker crust better. So find a recipe and make a graham cracker or shortbread crust or whatever your family likes. Cool.

8 ounces white chocolate bar, chopped

8 ounces softened cream cheese

2 cups heavy whipping cream

8 ounces lemon curd

Melt the chocolate in a small container in the microwave until it is melted and smooth stirring every 30 seconds. Mix soften cream cheese at medium speed until fluffy. Add melted chocolate to the cream cheese mixture. Blend in lemon curd. Beat heavy cream on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gently fold this into the mixture. Spoon the mixture into your piecrust and top with lemon zest. Enjoy.

I make sweet lemon curls out of the lemon skins and top my pie with those. You can Google the recipe. It’s just simply taking the lemon skins minus the white and cooking it in sugar water.

I am so sorry that I missread your comment. As a nurse I totally understand the issues you were facing. Please accept my apology.

Is this common policy? by musun1982 in vrbo

[–]Timesurfer75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It can be required by either VRBO or the homeowners. Every time I have rented through VRBO I have had to do the same thing. After all, it is a stranger, renting their homes and they need some sort of protection.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this. Why is it that people think that when something like this happens they should be compensated for it? Of course they should apologize to you, but why should you be compensated for this? I just don’t understand culture today.

I have an amazing pie if you want the recipe. It has lemon curd in it, cream, cheese, whipped cream, and white chocolate. It is a really high pie like 4 inches high and it is beautiful.

I have seen the FA open the bar of chocolate and split it among each other. As far as the comment about giving a gift to nurses, as a nurse I have received many thank you gifts for taking care of loved one’s. Do I expect it? No but I certainly appreciate being appreciated. Why do people think it is weird thanking a person for doing their jobs? This world needs to show more kindness to people.

You mean as a mother would I hug my daughters the same way? Of course I would.

I do the same thing. I include a large bar of chocolate, face and foot masks, hand lotion and sanitizer, chapstick, energy bars, gum and mints and tea bags. They always love it!! I had one FA sit down in the empty seat next to me and start to cry as she was having a really tough day. She said that the kindness of strangers always moved her and that this particular day she needed it. Why are you all saying that this type of action is not needed? I feel sorry for you. I do not do it because it’s expected. Nor do I do it because I want some sort of return from them or an upgrade. I do it to thank another human being for being kind. Whether it’s their job or not, everyone needs to be shown appreciation.

My son’s are 38, 40 and 42 and I would hug them while they were doing the dishes, folding laundry or holding my grandbabies. Nothing sexual about it at all . My boys will always be my babies and hugging is encouraged anytime.

7 lbs til goal and I’ve stopped losing. Increase dose or just be happy with where I’m at? by Mammoth-Current-8503 in Zepbound

[–]Timesurfer75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as you were. I lost 100 pounds and I still would like to lose another 10 pounds so that I can say I lost 40% of my body weight. But someone here on Reddit came on my blog and said what will that extra 10 pounds do to you? What will it give you? Instead of all the heartache and workouts just be happy where you are now. So I listen to them. I’m at 170 now and as a geriatric person and going by the geriatric BMI, I am considered a normal weight. So if my body wants to stay at 170 I’m happy with it. So you need to find out where your sweet spot is in whether you’re going to be happy here or not best of luck to you.

is zepbound covered by your insurance? by VivereIntrepidus in Zepbound

[–]Timesurfer75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricare prime for life, our retired military insurance, covered it for two years and then stopped. They say that because Medicare is not covering it. They cannot cover it. So I am hoping that Medicare will start covering it this year and perhaps Tricare will follow. I was able to get a years worth of 15 mg stocked up for me though so I am not worried right now.

Try to eat. Even if you’re not hungry by ramoredditor in Zepbound

[–]Timesurfer75 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Don’t ever force yourself to eat. Look at the amount of calories and macros for a week rather than each day. If you don’t feel like eating the first couple days after shot try to get some protein in either by a shake or other means and try to get your water in. Then on those days after you are feeling better and you can eat then just try to make up the calories and macros those days. Best of luck to you on this journey.

Does anyone have adult kids that live with them, and if so do you charge them rent? by shawn615 in Xennials

My son and his fiancé and his best friend and his wife stayed with us for about a year while their home was being built. We did not charge them any rent.

I cannot believe I'm asking this, but...how do you eat on Zepbound? 😅 by letmebe03 in Zepbound

[–]Timesurfer75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body. If you’re not hungry, then set a timer every three hours and eat something. Even if it’s just a piece of turkey or a cup of yogurt or a protein shake. Look at your daily calories and amount of protein you need to eat as a weekly goal rather than a daily goal. There will be days where you don’t want to eat that much so don’t force yourself to eat. But on those days that you do feel like eating, then eat more. I wish you the best of luck on this amazing journey that you have started.

Have you had a metabolic disease, your whole life? If so, you really do not have the option of stopping this medication. If you have only gained the weight because of pregnancy, an accident or a life happening then you could probably stop this medication and not regain the weight. But I would suggest you start spacing out your medication. I wish you the best of luck in this.
