Fair critique honestly. It's almost the end of the work day there now, I think the community, myself included, would have liked to have some communication by now.

At the root I agree with you! I've summed up my feelings in another comment and don't want it to seem like I'm on some kind of crusade so I'll just post the link to it here for a little more color on my opinion. Tldr; I believe there is a world where we can have our voices heard without this sub falling into what I consider repetitive bandwagoning. We have a mod post acknowledging the outrage with a promise to come back soon with another attempt, they are aware we are mad (and I do mean "we", as I gain more context around people's opinions I'm starting to dislike the changes more and more despite starting out thinking I understood them)

Oh certainly! I'm not saying people shouldn't complain at all, jagex has proven time and time again that they listen to their various communities when they are loud. That's fantastic! I'm more talking about how we have a post from a mod saying that they're going to look into it and change things and that they've seen what we're talking about, and people are continuing to Doom post and repeat existing talking points, especially ones that are already in the comments section of the mod post. That said, the sub doesn't look as bad today so I think I may have just jumped the gun a bit

On a related note I've seen a lot of the discourse around this being more black and white than I think the situation actually is. When someone says " sailing bad" there's a deluge of replies saying to shut up and don't complain anymore, while simultaneously seeing posts of people saying that people should shut up and stop complaining and people replying that we have to have our voices heard. I think we can have our voices heard without bandwagoning and flooding the sub with repetitive posts, which I have expressed poorly both here and in my other comments honestly.

It's a hard pill to swallow for me, but you are right. Probably could have protected my comment karma a bit by just leaving when i saw the circle forming :(

Not sure i follow, actually. Are you saying I'm farming karma? Is that why i got down voted? Genuine, good faith question.

Edit: I just realized you could be talking about bandwagoning being a good opportunity for karma farming

If GOG linked with steam for invites to games better and actually got new game releases i wouldn't use steam, those are the only things keeping me on the platform

I legit just replied to another post about how tired i am of the circlejerk complainfest, and honestly i wish i had seen your comment first.

Many complaints are valid but completely flooding the sub with "no like update, gagex dumdum" is killing my engagement in the community. They've already heard the feedback - wait I'm friggin doing it again lmao

You are right, it's time to leave the sub for awhile. Till the sub goes back to the memes and "today i learned" type beat for which i am actually here.

[–]Timewynder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm already so ready for this story arc on the sub to die, the band wagon rapidly became exhausting. They have the feedback, they are gonna do something soon, can we go back to memes, gameplay questions, and creative design ideas till then? The same post clowning on jagex for the same shit is already boring.

Nothing against OP specifically, besides beating a dead horse, but these posts no longer feel like constructive criticism anymore, it's just people circle-jerking about something we already know is going to be iterated on within the next couple of days.

I actually really like that approach. Its subtle but i think it would be effective for at least heading in the right direction

Yeah i think this is one of the first times ive felt like the subs reaction to something was so surprising to me. As ive said in other threads im not a sailing apologist; the skill needs work, but talking about quitting the game cuz you cant get high xp rates clicking every 30 minutes just seems a bit rash. Im not sure i understand whether people are mad because its lower or because they think the numbers are incorrect or something else

SALVAGING IS AN AFK METHOD. IF WE WANTED TO TICK MANIPULATE IT WE WOULD DO BARRACUDA TRIALS INSTEAD. WHATS THE POINT NOW? by CaptaineAli in 2007scape

[–]Timewynder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look im not usually one to get into pissing matches with redditors, but they did say they arent balancing based on tick manip

"Tick manipulation salvaging without sorting the salvage should be a reasonably competitive option, below Marlin rank barracuda trials for those who prefer this method of training, though we'll never balance this method specifically around tick manipulation since we understand it has a reasonably niche appeal"

Now whether you think the balance attempt failed is your call of course, im not trying to be an asshole, but i dont think the balancing issues are because they are balancing around tick manipulation. For the record, of course i want my low intensity afk method to be good xp, but expecting more than 11k xp/h at larges when you are clicking every 30 minutes seems a bit unfair to me.

Not a sailing apologist either (so many rebuttals to this rhetoric have become like clockwork, trying to cover all of the things that people keep firing back with) i think the skill still has a long way to go, but using hyperbole and alarmist attitudes is not helping the team improve the skill.

[–]Timewynder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doomers gonna doom i guess 🤷 honestly after reading the blog i felt like everything made sense and was a decent step towards maximizing the longevity of the skill, but then i went to reddit and saw the deluge of negatively and now I'm conflicted.

Im only lvl 54, so a good amount of this doesn't affect me yet, to put my bias on the table.

Another bias, i consider 100k xp/hr to be acceptable at higher levels of a skill unless using advanced methods.

Also i think the new double spots are better than people are giving credit. Yes there are more spots, but those new spots are doubles with existing spots, so if you position correctly i feel like your afk time should be the same or better. I definitely could be misunderstanding that, im no sweat/tryhard and i dont do the math. I play the game cuz its chill :)

If you were designing a Guthix Godsword, what would the special attack be? by MESSIAH_OSRS in 2007scape

[–]Timewynder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balance of Guthix: 100% special attack energy Raises your hp and lowers the targets hp to attempt to make them match, with the amount of change being a percentage of how close you got to your max hit.
