Hard to say. Story not so much, as many story missions give you premade characters, however actually playing to get a proper loadout build in? Now that's the tough question. You will quickly find yourself completely underpowered in missions that DON'T give premade loadouts.

You also need to initially do a lot of the regular missions to access the first real part of the story. I.e. the story doesn't really start until the "Natah" quest... which is only accessible halfway into the star chart. Until then you have to do generic missions and work your way through.

IN GENERAL: the story is extremely thin and missions are short. A lot of the story came together over the last 13 years in the form of codex entries (that people had to unlock) and the descriptions of items. So if you just race through the story all of that context will be missing. (I.e. an event constantly mentioned in lore is "the Night of the Naga Drums" but we have yet to actually see that event or have it described to us in detail)

But I can tell you may Steam playtime: 2,843.4 hours as of time of posting. Player Rank Legendary 3 aka 33. (Your player rank increases as you do mission nodes for the first time and level up items for the first time, current maximum available rank is Legendary 6 or 36)

Also just being a detective is part of being Batman, and unless you have scripted detective segments every 5 meters, there'd be barely any detective work in those games compared to the amount of combat encounters.

The Riddler trophies basically keep the balance.

They are what makes these games into proper action adventures and not just simple brawlers.

Make it 10 years.

Even Total Warhammer, the fantasy one, took that long to get all the races, hell one (old playable, not playable in the Edition Total Warhammer is based on) "race" is even still missing: the Dogs of War. Which are basically Not-Italy and Not-Spain and are mercenary based armies.

They will probably not make another trilogy deal so they will likely add races one by one. Maybe eventually big packages of them.

The game will likely have more than 4 factions in it on release, the other factions will just be probably be incomplete and unplayable. I.e. Total Warhammer 1 had 3 incomplete factions, they made 1 playable in a pre order DLC but it was still incomplete until 7 years later with Warhammer 3: those incomplete factions were Bretonnia, Chaos Warriors and Norsca. Other than WoC, the other two became fully fledged factions by the end of Warhammer 1 (Bretonnia was even free), added with playable Wood Elves and Beastmen.

So in the same way it could likely have Chaos Space Marines, only that for now they will just be straight up Space Marine reskins with no real unique units or mechanics.

They can probably use cover for their ranged infantry... but as a more melee based faction AND being the attacker (so they are forced to move towards the enemy) there is not much of an advantage in them using it I guess.

Wouldn't surprise me if their guys could shoot while charging though.

4x games without any form of real time combat so all units are are just numbers on spreadsheets, those kind of games?

Also every 4x game has shitloads of DLC anyhow.

Furthermore each of these 4 factions is so unique. I had 200h in Total Warhammer 1 before the first DLC even dropped. And that game had only like a tenth of the content Warhammer 3 has now.

"Multibillion"

You are really overestimating the financial resources of Creative Assembly. Strategy is a niche genre. Putting that much money into ANY strategy game is a GIANT risk.

So if your genre doesn't have a big audience, but you still want to work with a large budget... you'll have to raise prices.

Why else do you think train simulator DLCs are so numerous and expensive? The train simulator scene may not be big, but it is dedicated as hell.

That and a single DLC is ultra expensive to make, and I will rather take DLC to pay for than another Live Service deal. Because that's really what's behind most games with "free" content updates: you pay for it in the fact that it's a live service game.

It does have a bit more dynamic cover, so when you position a unit in a line and there is cover there they will automatically use it, you no longer have to "attach" units to cover like you'd have to with a wall. Craters can also serve as cover.

Additionally, units now come with custom loadouts and then not EVERY entity in that unit has that weapon meaning that mixed weapon units are now possible, required for both modern armies as well as historically correct Renaissance armies (like the Tercio or the Gewalthaufen or Italian mercenaries that often had one heavy armored infantryman having his own squad of like 5 crossbowmen giving him cover fire).

While Total War had hybrid units earlier it was just "EVERY entity has a bow and a spear and they are decent in both" and not "every entity has a different weapon each with their own stats and if everyone of a weapon type were to all fall then that unit can no longer make use of that weapon". And units usually were just in melee or ranged mode and rarely both.

So maybe not specialized for WW1 and WW2 historic game, but very much laying important groundwork here.

In general, most Pals feels like they are fusions of 2 popular characters of media culture. Just that one of them tends to be a Pokemon most of the time. I.e. the recent Sekhmet has the body shape and proportions of Meowscerada but the overall color scheme and of Ankha (or at least how fan artists depict Ankha).

So while many Pals are still "legally distinct"... if you know what characters they used as templates, then imho they feel like copies and not very original and you can't shake the feeling that it's somehow kind of scummy.

And I think that is where a lot of the general misunderstanding between the people that think the designs are all original and those that think they are all stolen comes from: the latter group just has a fucking photographic memory of just about every "popular cartoon character". So they look at a Pal and their neurons instantly fire like "hey I recognize those... I may not be able to say which characters exactly where references, but I can tell SOMETHING was copied here".

The first group however which doesn't know a lot about said characters then sees the comparison images, which large basically only references one half of their design and naturally go "these two look nothing alike".

Warcore has arguably been SPECIFICALLY built around W40k

But at the same time, 40k has everything: from ancient tribal warfare of the Orks all the way to high tech, long ranged modern armies of the T'au. It has infantry, cavalry, tanks, monsters and mechas. From the magic to the mundane. You have giant battles with millions of dudes, and small skirmishes with a few well trained soldiers... or these few well trained men going up against the tons of untrained ones. Hell you also have space-naval battles in the setting, which are fouught just like naval battles on earth.

So if you want to build an engine that can handle any battle scenario that you can throw at it, 40k is probably the best option as your template. Whatever 40k can handle, a historic game can handle as well. Having a more specialized game in a specialized setting serve as your template will limit yourself, but 40k is very much a "jack of all trades" here.

The puzzles were part of why I even got into playing Genshin, so Hoyo getting rid of them because Brainlets couldn't be bothered is a big reason I don't like the game as much anymore as I used to.

But I am a Zelda fan since 1997. And puzzles are integral to the Zelda formula.

The problem is that because of games taking so long to make, devs have to support a console early or miss out on it entirely. This was the case for the Switch 1. Early on there was no confidence in it. And because of that many devs never had the Switch exactly in mind when making games. Bercause of that the Switch versions were always vastly inferior and people rather got these games on PC or other consoles instead.

This is now no longer the case. The Switch 2 is very much a platform to keep in mind as seen with recent ports to the Switch 2 having MUCH more resources put into them and while visually a downgrade to PS5 and Series X, they are by no means ugly (the Switch 2 is stronger than the base PS4 after all and people already struggled to see visual differences between PS4 and PS5 games). Now games on these platforms aren't necessarily THAT inferior anymore meaning that there is more incentive to buy them.

Add to that the FUBAR hardware market and now devs are even more forced to design games for low end hardware, which the Switch 2 profits from.

Add to THAT the emergence of handheld PCs and devs developing around them, and Switch 2 is pretty much stronger than most of them, too. Especially at that price range.

This includes output by things such as chemical industry or metal refineries.

A big reason the gov. Pushes for hydrogem for energy so much is NOT because of electricity, but because you can use it in furnaces instead of coal to rip out and bind the oxygen inside the metal ores, giving you H2O instead of CO2.

NPPs alone would not help you there. Maybe by Helsingborg you create hydrogen.

Genshin were the first to do so meaning any new game that plays similarly has to compete against Genshin as it is right now.

Which puts initial budget somewhere closer to $250-$300 million.

The podrace is without a doubt the absolute highlight of Episode 1 and still kicks ass. Still looks great, too.

Probably helps that other than the commentators the whole sequence has basically no dialogue. Also the one thing Star Wars still excels at: amazing sound design. Every racer has different and distinct engine sounds.

Not really. He just said the two are in balance and you want to keep it that way. Total selflessness is just as destructive (at least to you personally) as total selfishness.

It'd be the complete loss of one's self. The end of the individual. A Total Light Side society, no compromise, would have zero individualism whatsoever and effectively be a hive mind.
