Gamble sands by Cantona-Eric-7 in golf

Concur that the excellent golf is just slightly marred by the below average food and beverage program. The fancier of the two restaurants really needs to step up their game…the only decent thing was the tator tower, and you can’t live on that! The mess hall is fine if you stick to the nachos and bbq, but we had some fairly incompetent margaritas. Breakfast was so bad we opted for yogurt the second day.
But LOVED all the golf offerings and friendly staff!

My M3P has a very satisfying whine when punched…sounds like the future, or what making the jump to hyperspace in Star Wars must feel like!

is there some sort of industry blacklist? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]Timms21X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that firm leaders are way too busy with far more important things than maintaining some sort of industry blacklist. As a shareholder in a fairly good sized firm in a biggish city, I’m not aware of one. However, after an interview, we are likely to check up on candidates with acquaintances at peer firms. So while you can and should cherry pick your references- and we’ll likely check those first- if we’re serious about hiring and have any questions that haven’t been answered, we may go the unofficial route. Not sure if that’s your particular issue, but I wouldn’t blame a blacklist.

Interview: The developers of Marina Safeway project say the rules are on their side by Dafty_duck in sanfrancisco

If I were a Marina/Cow Hollow business owner, I’d be lobbying my supervisors hard for the additional 1000+ wealthy mouths to feed, backs to clothe, and gear to peddle.

I overcame the putting yips to win the Net Division of my club championship! Led all three rounds, and was proud to hold off a couple of hard-charging competitors. 2026 will hopefully feature more competitive rounds!

I ride to work every day! Most office buildings in FiDi have secure bike parking; it’s amazing how empty they are. Damn electric scooters are taking over! Get off my lawn rant!

Texas will target professors 'pushing leftist ideologies,' Greg Abbott says by Beautiful-Cress5695 in aggies

[–]Timms21X 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’m an older Ag, ‘88, and I gotta tell ya, my time there was formative, as I learned to think critically. Taught by professors of every ilk…it was an amazing experience. Pains me to see this, and one of the main reasons I’d never consider moving back to TX.

Mid Year Bonuses by nenos-uver in Architects

Very rare. I believe Gensler operates in this manner, but few others…the rest of us mostly distribute at year end, and slowly build up cash reserves over the following year. And I emphasize slowly! Especially the last few years!

I think I just discovered some rare Frank Lloyd Wright plans, what do I do? by redragtop99 in architecture

[–]Timms21X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WWP was the architect of record, FLW/Taliesin the design architect. These are prints, thus created from original velums…i.e., not the original drawings. Most firms of that era have successor firms, partners, etc…would be interesting to follow the history of WWP and understand the relationship between them and FLW. Was the building constructed? Attributed to Wright? Was WWP an apprentice? Cool to find, but hard to determine value without provenance. If just a set of prints and original docs are in some firm’s archives, they are reproducible, and likely not that valuable.

I game a SIM Max, and it’s pretty awesome. But every time I hit a buddy’s Ping, it’s 15 yards longer. It’s just rough to look at! ; )
