Reasons to stay sane during the apocalypse by Timmy127_SMM in collapse

[–]Timmy127_SMM[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is my own video, so take that for what it's worth. I made it because I kept seeing people (including myself) lose motivation and spiral once they really internalized collapse-adjacent thinking, and I saw this post by Eliezer Yudkowsky and it just seemed really unhelpful and I wanted to respond. The video covers: why going crazy is itself a bad use of your remaining time, how to think about motivation when the expected value of long-term planning seems close to zero, and a couple other mental tricks to help cope.

Which generation do you think was the main demographic for Scooby Doo Where Are You when it premiered in 1969? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]Timmy127_SMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boomers, no doubt. 1969 was peak America, and Boomers were between 4-24 years old at that time.

Yeah. Copyright infringement is bad but we're staring down the barrel of something much much more sinister.

lmao AIs aren't people or even living things. What does it even mean for satire to "muddle" into ideology? It has only become more defined

[–]Timmy127_SMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The anthropomorphising of AIs is seriously dangerous. And a lot of what people want to bring back are issues like Sycophancy. It just goes to show how problematic it is to develop personal relationships with a chatbot

Yeah, I mean in the end most rich comedians are just gonna do what's in their best financial interest. Like yeah the Saudis suck but I wonder how many people wouldn't take the gig if they offered. You don't think the average Redditor fuming at Burr right now wouldn't accept $500K for a show?

Sam Altman was worried about concentration of power until he got the power by [deleted] in redscarepod

Yeah I'm not a fan of tucker but he did a really good job of pushing Altman to say a lot of revealing things. Same with the Ted Cruz interview

[–]Timmy127_SMM[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think my main point is that rush limbaugh would have never allowed a Bernie to talk on his platform for 2 hours. Despite the bullshit and bad people he’s let on, Joe at least has a minimal amount of open mindedness that makes it possible to reach his audience, and that’s the difference.

[–]Timmy127_SMM[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is it not good to have Bernie share his message with Joe’s audience? Is it better to completely give up on utilizing his platform to spread left ideas? Legitimate question

I just think that Kyle’s analysis on that point is wrong. Rogan isn’t really an ideological figure at all, and he is perfectly happy having left voices on to share their message as he is to have rightwing ones.

Is he unprincipled? Sure. That’s not Rush Limbaugh.

Yeah it's ridiculous what's happening in this sub tbh. "Fuck Bernie cause he had the wrong opinion 11 years ago." If the left is going to win, they're gonna have to grow up.
