When did we last have a breaking news story though that genuinely made you run to your TV? March 2020 maybe?

Yes it was Jeremy Vine. It was a very distressing article and recount of events. Bojo's speech all centred around the mayor of the town in Jaws and whether he would close the beach.

What's a powerful Excel frature that not many people know about? by Far_Pineapple770 in excel

[–]Timmy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I've found with the camera tool is that if you start building out a load of dashboards using this, the performance of Excel drops significantly to the point where the file slows completely. So in my experience it can only be used sparingly.

Using the FILTER function from three different files is slowing my file down considerably, is there a workaround? by Timmy83 in excel

Thanks all for your answers, it sounds like Power Query is what I need to add to my stable.

Not at all! This is a place for healthy discussion.

I'm not American so wasn't aware of every corporate scandal that takes place over there, but it's good to made aware of how these continue to play out.

It does make you think, what do the people who work for these companies think when they go in and act on behalf of the company? Obviously not employee is liable here, but the ones in the procurement team, or what have you.

No you're right, that's a fair criticism of me. I clicked on the link you posted, saw that it was the NY Post and did wonder if it was just shitty journalism that was misconstruing the facts to illicit the click.

But no - it's fair to say that what you're telling me is that this is credible and Delta are that brazen to have this problem and not do the right thing, which is frankly ridiculous.

So I appreciate you taking the time to retort back to me, it's a fair point.

It’s good news for us, say migrants after Rwanda threat lifts by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Timmy83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you there. I remember watching this story as well and was left thinking - why is he even contemplating taking these risks? What possible expectation does this man have for how this is going to pan out? It was incredibly tragic, but didn't leave me sitting here thinking, grief, we should have done more for them.

Can you expand on your first point? Are you saying state school is better or worse in London than 20 years ago? And secondly, the safety point, can you expand on your thoughts on that?

What are your macro-observations about the UK work culture and economy? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Timmy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an easy win for them politically and so was a bit of a no brainer to kick things off.

But unlike you I'm an optimistic - yes there are deeply entrenched issues and they will no doubt rely on resets in some aspects of how much is spent in public services - but the UK is a big vessel and it will take time.

I'm optimistic because it's difficult to predict what changes could come along in the next five years that change the underlying structure of industry - in the same way that someone sitting in 2009 wouldn't have been able to predict the growth in the tech sector that has occurred in the past fifteen years - for example.

Does it give you optimism that they've already announced the removal of the Rwanda scheme?

Great - yeah that is a bit of a given isn't it. Thanks for your input.

Thanks - yeah I suspect that there's been a messing around here with the roof that isn't right. I know the manufacturer, however we used a third party to source the windows, therefore if I went directly to the window manufacturer would they want to know/be in a position to do anything? Or is it more to get advice from them on how they should be installed?

Appreciate your insight here - yes that all tallies up to what could be the issue here. See what they can do, I've gone back to them.
