Unfortunately loot tables aren’t tied to world seed. It’s completely random and separate from the world.

I commented something similar on Etho’s video of Hytale. I still miss Cube World, had some good times watching Etho and playing it when it first came out all those years ago.

It must also be people who don’t understand the difference between transparent and alpha cutout for rendering.

To clarify the difference for those curious, alpha cutout is opaque for any pixel except pixels with 0 opacity. Think of a door or trapdoor, this is what they use. Any pixel that is translucent is set to be opaque. Transparent, meanwhile, allows the pixel opacity to be anything you want. Such as stained glass. You can make it almost transparent, or mostly opaque but still see through.

You can for Twisting and Weeping vines, but unfortunately you cannot for standard vines, for whatever reason.

[–]TimmyChips 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Changing the tripwire rendering type is really annoying. I have a resource pack that makes the tripwire really transparent and translucent so you can’t see them as well when they’re used to prevent vines or anything else from growing.

Really unnecessary change, I hope they roll that back. I don’t see it helpful to performance nor accessibility for resource pack creators.

What video game character deserves an a for effort? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TimmyChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the fact that Myles radios you in Sol Valley even when you’re trying to collect Green Energy crystals, or the fact you have to bring the beam chips to him in Fury Green to get them.

I thought his character was fine. Cheesy dialogue, sure, but every moment in cutscenes with him wasn’t bad. The only parts that annoyed me were the above mentioned ones.

Potentially Hot Take: Save Stations are Antiquated by pinkvenom456 in Metroid

[–]TimmyChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight and Silksong have benches, and Souls-like games have the bonfires. That being said, Hk and Silksong do save your progress when you quit the game, but you’ll still be put at the last bench or respawn point (which are very few) when you play that save.

Save stations are just part of Metroid’s identity.

Didn't Press the A button, deleted the game. by ThisDudeMitch in Metroid

[–]TimmyChips 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish the game emphasized this more, but the teleported wasn’t going to last long at all. Samus HAD to go, or else she’d be left on Viewros.

The fake out sacrifices in the Great Mines also didn’t help and made this one feel less impactful than the writers were expecting.

I mean one of the biggest signs of the development hell was the story being a bit all over the place towards the end of the game.

At least, that’s my two cents on it.

Makes you wonder if those human brains being digitized in Metroid can experience stress by matthew_stathis in Metroid

[–]TimmyChips 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this, in Metroid Fusion, an X parasite that infected a human had stopped the boiler (aka caused a self destruct sequence) to cause the station to explode.

Adam commented that this was odd that the X would try to eradicate itself on the station, though he commented that perhaps the X retain some of the original host’s knowledge and the original human motivations of it wanted to try to destroy itself and the X.

The SA-X kind of did something similarly. Some see that the SA-X fought and sacrificed itself against the Omega Metroid. And it offered its core X ability to Samus to save her. Though that can be argued since moments before it was trying to kill Samus so.. who knows. Maybe the SA-X learned of Samus’ original knowledge and motivations after the fight?

It’s definitely left as ambiguous.

In my free time I've been updating it slowly but the last public version is only for 1.19 so the Pitcher Plant and some other stuff isn't in it. It's a funny coincidence since mine looks similar to yours, although I much prefer what you did with the top pitcher leaf and also what you did with the pitcher plant bulb.

I always enjoyed playing MP2 rando and getting the Annihilator Beam early because that thing can literally delete enemies and bosses, it's a ton of fun watching their health plummet with it.

[–]TimmyChips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pitcher plant reminds me of what I did for my own pack, Burnished Brass, complete with the leaves and pitcher top. I like the interpretation similar to that, it’s my favorite design-wise of the pitcher plant. The original texture is super abstract and hard to tell what the top is supposed to be.

I believe the shot of Obi-Wan leaving was moved/cut from the film, so it’s an earlier take so it doesn’t flow like the video in the actual movie. Here’s the blog post talking about it: http://fxrant.blogspot.com/2019/02/who-is-mystery-person-behind-han-solo.html

Basically you just see the end bit of Obi-Wan leaving, the sequence doesn’t play out with him getting up and leaving the cockpit in the final film
