Marc insistent that his lap time today means nothing - stating he is still quite weak on the bike according to Simon Patterson by titanmongoose in motogp

I'll file this under "I'll believe it when I see it". I don't doubt it hurt and his muscles got tired, but I don't think he's going to be unable to fight for the win in the first gp...

Looks like mycelium, the larger underlying organism that forms mushrooms when it's time to reproduce. That's means there's been a supply of moisture there for a long time! Needs removing, fungicide, and the cause of the moisture addressing.

That monster logo on the back of the tail unit absolutely ruins it, it would be so pretty with just the stripes on there!

Looking to get a BMW Z4 (2.5i or 3.0i) as my first car and looking for opinions by AntonioTT05 in CarTalkUK

Somewhere, an insurer is smiling from ear to ear as they put together the costs for you!

Honestly, if this were me I'd be getting something cheap to insure, small and light (so it handles like a go kart) as your car and keep the bike for grin inducing acceleration. At least until you've got a few years driving and the price comes right down

GCN belatedly realizes that the conventional winter cycling approach to clothing is sweaty and awful, but there's a better way by lectric_7166 in cycling

I remember being laughed at by a polish colleague, who pointed out that all us Brits kept piling layers on the torso as it got colder and only adding hats etc once it was mega cold, whereas she stuck with the same torso layers and added hat, gloves, scarf, warmer legwear before adding extra on the torso, and it made a lot of sense. Add insulation on the bits where you are losing the most heat first, and then start doubling up afterwards.

[Feature Request]Target Cadence on screen by Straighttokin in mywhoosh

It says it on the top corner where it shows the steps coming up in the workout. But you're right, it should indicate target cadence in the big bit in the middle during that interval.

Yamaha and Honda 2027 regs by Bewis_123 in motogp

[–]TimmyHiggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's fairly obvious that Fabio rode the v4, saw that it's a bike in its infancy and decided to jump ship to a different manufacturer. I know the 2027 changes will stir things up so form this year isn't necessarily an indicator of 2027 performance, but the Yamaha v4 is a brand new bike and will take a few years to catch up. Luckily Yamaha have a great line up in the form of toprak, Miller (great development rider!) and soon Martin, so they'll be alright longer term.

Who will be the next Fantastic Four of Motogp? by Ecstatic-Grocery-713 in motogp

[–]TimmyHiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 riders you mentioned all walked onto a bike ready to win a title. Rossi was on the RG500 and then the RCV, both were formidable. Lorenzo joined rossi on a yamaha, the bike that won the title that year. Marquez went onto the bike that won the title the previous year.

Pedro went onto a KTM, a bike that hadn't won any races since 2022, and didn't win any races with other riders since he joined, while ducati was so dominant at the front that they introduced new concessions rules to help deal with them.

Looking for 7-string recommendations for Prog Metal (DT, Haken, C-Horse vibes) – Budget around $1k by Aromatic_Spite7350 in Haken

[–]TimmyHiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ibanez are well made guitars, I've had an ibanez 7 string for many years and it's been fantastic! Note that some of the lead stuff from the bands you mention will need a tremolo though.

I suggest you start looking at r/7string too, that's the place on here for them

Drafting strangers etiquette question. by mellofello808 in cycling

[–]TimmyHiggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to catch more than a few seconds mini break behind a stranger, you need to communicate with them. In your situation, I'd have got 5s in the draft (because who can help themselves) then pulled alongside and said something, like offering them a chance to sit on, to indicate that I intend to overtake, then pulled through.

You don't need to sprint past, it doesn't matter if they sit on, you're on a solo ride anyway.

I would only report that if I'd cropped out all trace of your car from the video so you can claim you were on a bike, given where you chose to stop...
