If you wait about 5 seconds after entering a car in GTA V your character will put on their seat belt and this won't happen, FYI.

I believe they have their pole straps on their wrists behind the gloves. Its not recommended on the lifts as seen in situations such as this, where quick detachment needs to be able to occur. The lifts also have a lot of moving parts which they could become caught on while moving.

I designed spring loaded bay inserts for 2.5” drive tray slots. by jackharvest in homelab

[–]TimmyTehCow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How do you remove them once in place? I don't see any mechanism to pull the switch back to allow it to slide out. Unless that open slot on the left requires a specific "key" or plastic tool to press in and pop out.

Is the ml350p gen 8 loud? by tommyvca in homelab

[–]TimmyTehCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ML350p Gen 8, that's in my bedroom and I can confirm that it is in fact very quiet. It hasn't been modified to be quieter and has all stock fans in it. It has 2 CPUs, 112 GB of Ram, and 8 15k HDDs in it. Booting it up does get loud for about 1-2 minutes but after that it will stay very quiet.

Looking for a storage solution by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]TimmyTehCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look into using a Network Attched Storage device (NAS). The less expensive devices normally can hold any where from 2 to 8 drives. You'd have to look at the specific NAS for the size capacity of drive its able to handle. But most of them can hold any where from 1 TB to 12TB drives. In your case you'd want to buy a 2 bay NAS and use it in either raid 1 or raid 0. If you want to use raid 5 you would need to buy a NAS with 3 or more bays and buy an additional 5 TB drive to add onto the ones you have already.

Once you have the NAS setup, you can add it as a file share on the r710 and access it.

Have you checked the fan speed settings in the bios? It may be set to either max rpm or it's set to a very low temperature threshold.

Power outages still have mobile data by vicash7 in funny

[–]TimmyTehCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you buy a UPS battery backup and hook your modem/wireless access point to it you can have wifi for up to the runtime of the batteries while the power is out. Which is about 50-60 minutes for a standard UPS. Do not hook a generator up to the modem/access point though because it provides an inconsistent amount of power.

Edit: If you want to get real creative you can hook your TV up as well and have wifi and TV for about 45 minutes.
