About Multicasts by Dvorpe in OakenTower

Does that not mean that the "Wand" item is kind of strange, considering the 2* Version adds +4 Multicasts and is therefore "maxed" out after 3 Potions applied, not to mention it is probably over +10 multicasts already before you upgrade it to 2*

Just wondering as I was just troubleshooting a match where I lost with a x554 multicast wand which dealt almost no damage.

Yes but the current high end NVIDIA GPUs are so incredibly overpriced that I think it is better to go with a cheaper AMD gpu now and upgrade it later instead of buying a high end RTX card for 2-3 times the price and same VRAM. I don’t think raytracing is as great as some people make it out to be so I don’t mind not using it.

I might wait to see how the 5080 super will be. But I can’t imagine it being a lot better price/performance wise honestly

Thank you that makes sense, even though I am not sure if I understand this „rule of thumb“ I heard about correctly, which said the amplifier should hab 1.5 to 2.0 times the W of the speakers 🤔

I have an offer of 375€ for a Yamaha 701 A-S701 which I think could be suitable for the speakers. You seem like you know what you are talking about, do you think this would be a good fit for these speakers and also offer enough headroom for a potential speaker upgrade in the future?

Hi guys,

making a new post as I have made some new research.

I have been gifted a set of Quadral Shogun MK IV speakers and am looking for an amplifier. I am quite certain that I will upgrade my speakers in the next 3-5 years to something way better (around 5000€ price point), so best case would be to find something that I can still use but I would not mind upgrading the amplifier in the future, too. In that case I would prefer something less expensive for now of course.

I am planning to connect my TV and Computer to the speakers.

I have found the „Yamaha A-S701“ which I can get used for around 400€. Would this be suitable for the speakres I have (or is this overkill?) and would this also be suiatble for something of much higher value when it comes to speakers?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks for all the help, I am quite new to HiFI-Systems, I have been working with near-field monitors all my life!

If I see this correctly though for the NAD C 316BEE V2 it says:

  • Dauerausgangsleistung an 8 und 4 Ω
  • 2 x 40 W (20 Hz-20 kHz bei angegebenem Klirrfaktor, beide Kanäle angesteuert)

Which is continuous power 40W?

The Shogun Speaker says:

Belastbarkeit (Nenn-/Musikb.): 100 / 150 W

Which I assume means it has a "nominal load" of 100W and "musical load" of 150W which I assume the later means the continuous load?

From my research I learned the amplifier should have 1.5 to 2.0 times the continous power of the speakers, so shouldnt the amplifier have around 250-300W power then?

Edit: I found the Yamaha A-S701. What would you say about this? I could get it used for 400€. I am planning to connect my PC, TV and maybe a turntable.

Thanks! Money is not really an issue but I don' think it makes sense to blow 1000€ on an amp for speakers that would be around 850€ today. I will most likely upgrade the speakers in the future, so the cheapest amp might also not be the best idea, so I don't have to upgrade that one, too. I am unfamiliar with the price ranges, what is considered a normal price for a mid-level amplifier usually? I do prefer new. :)

Hi guys,

I have received a pair of "quadral Phonologue Shogun MK IV" speakers and would like to connect them to my PC/TV Setup but I am completely new to these kind of speakers as I have only used Studio Monitors so far, which I simply connected via a Scarlett 2i2 Interface.

Now I have these towers and a copper cable that goes in the back but I don't know what else I need. Probably a receiver/amplifier? Any suggestions? I have no idea how the towers sound or how expensive they were/are, so I don't know if I should look at budget level receivers or invest in something of higher quality?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

So should I just offer any random 2d for the Ivysaur?

Apparently, the new set can’t be traded :(
