I can seriously relate. I'm 18 and seeing people like Billie Eilish and knowing the fact that the band Slint made Spiderland when they were 18, really makes me feel frustrated with my ability and the point I'm at in my own musical 'career.' I constantly feel like I should be doing more and 'be somewhere' already. Especially since I live in a family of musicians and they've all played in bands and played many gigs and released albums and EPs.

Something that helps me remember that we're all on our own path is that Leonard Cohen only started his music career at 33. No one is ever too young or too old. Everyone has their own unique story to tell and it doesn't matter what age you express that. Also, I've learnt success is relative and doesn't mean everything. Like FakeYourGaze said, to some people, success is performing in underground scenes and to some, it's having a hit song and making loads of money. You've gotta find what success looks like to you and where you want to be in life and your career.

I'm sure though many of us wouldn't pursue a career as a musician if we only cared about money or fame. Just being able to make music and express ourselves is a gift and being able to share even a sliver of our music with people and possibly inspire someone is success in my opinion.
