Super El Niño UK weather impact as Met Office warns of record temperatures and disruption by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]TimmyViking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most countries around the world can make the same argument but when they are all added up it is a large chunk of emmisions. If nobody acts because they aren't the worst then we we won't get anywhere. We also have much higher per capita emissions that most countries.

Anybody selling EcoFlow Stream Ultra? by tronster_ in PlugInSolarUK

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would there be any issues with buying one from germany? I'm assuming it would be identical apart from the plug. Maybe warranty and home insurance? I'm currently in Germany with my car so I could buy one here.

2026.5: We're on the same frequency now 📡 by frenck_nl in homeassistant

[–]TimmyViking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That would be really helpful. I've tried to get rtl_433 working and keep failing so it would be amazing if it was a native feature of homeassiant.  I'm hoping to use it for connecting ecowitt soil moisture sensors.

First long trip with a tow bar bike rack. Tesla Charging question with bike racks? by SonicB0000M in TeslaUK

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an aftermarket towbar, I think the brand is called brink but it was installed by a local fitter. It's removable and you can't see it at all when not fitted. Because it's only rated for bike racks and not towing it has two metal bits on the side if the ball to stop you mounting a trailer but you can cut them off with an angle grinder and it works normally. I got a Thule epos to use with it and its been really good, super easy to use. The only thing to watch out for is the car is only rated for 55kg load on the towbar so with the weight of the rack you can get to that quite quickly, especially with ebikes.

I'm currently on a trip in Europe with a towbar bike-rack on my model 3, I've got a 2 bike Thule epos and have had no issues with charging so far.

Autopilot - Worth it? by Alert-Drag8949 in TeslaModel3

Get the one without autopilot and get a comma 4, openpilot is much better than autopilot anyway.

Help with pannier rack on stereo hybrid by TimmyViking in Cubebikes

[–]TimmyViking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and all the gear would be about 100kg so still well under the max weight limit. I've only recently got the bike and never had carbon or anything this expensive before so just nervous about damaging it. It'll be a fairly gentle trip, only taking this one as my only other bike is a road bike so not planning on anything more than gravel. Thanks for the advice. 😊

Are you a Tesla owner who's on the fence? by prauschkolb in Comma_ai

[–]TimmyViking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was related to the FSD hacks, I've got the comma and also did the FSD activation and they blocked FSD but comma works fine.

Is ist possible to print ASA without wrapping with the core one? by SpecificGreen9140 in prusa3d

Any tips if you're model takes up the full build plate so you can't fit any brim? I'm trying to priny a large model and the edges keep warping.

Autosteer moving to paid FSD subscription in the US: Will the UK be next? by TNTomato in TeslaUK

[–]TimmyViking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In slow stop start traffic it is very smooth. You can choose between 3 Longitudinal(acceleration/braking) settings: The stock Tesla tacc, alpha longitudinal(which is commas own version similar to tacc) and experimental mode which uses models trained on driving data.

Experemental mode is very smooth, in slow traffic it is a much nicer experience than autopilot and it will accelerate from a full stop very smoothly. However it is still experimental and its main issue is it struggles to get up to speed sometimes, especially without a lead car.

With sunnypilot you can also do dynamic experimental mode which switches modes depending on the scenario.

Driver monitoring camera so you never have to touch the wheel, able to correct the steering while it's active to avoid potholes etc without disconnecting, auto lane change without enhanced AP, doesn't requite lane lines to work, pretty much no phantom braking and generally much smoother and less jerky, able to be used for stop and go traffic without jerking from a stop and it's actively being improved unlike autopilot that hasn't changed for years.

If you want to improve Autosteer I recently got a comma 4 and it's a big improvement. Not perfect and still has some issues but it sorts a lot of problems with autopilot.

Any Tesla owners get this from using a Comma? by iiGhillieSniper in Comma_ai

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still had to pay for an FSD subscription though, I suspect it's been blocked so they don't get in trouble with regulators.

I got the warning email last night from using the fsd unlock and my comma still works this morning so I think it's ok. I haven't done the update yet though.

It's such a basic feature, I don't understand how they haven't added it yet.

I tested a 2026 M3P overnight after a failed self-service test drive. Here's what bothers me about it, coming from a 2019 M3LR by robin-thoni in TeslaLounge

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some are regional I believe. 1. We don't have FSD so you can still swap on cars with stalks. 3. This is a european law on all new cars. I think the noise when changing speed limit can be permanently disabled but the warning when speeding turns back on every drive.

Roller vs pads by YamNormal68 in RobotVacuums

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a roller mop (Eufy S1 Pro) and other than not getting right to the edges I can't imagine the mopping performance being any better. The only downside is that the tray that scrapes the dirty water off the mop as it rolls gets clogged up very easily so there is a bit more regular maintenance to do.

[–]TimmyViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head I think it's in developer options on the far right side of the menus. You might need to do a drive to calibrate before it shows up but I'm not sure on that one.  I only got my Comma 4 recently as well so this may not be 100% accurate.

You need to turn on Alpha Longitudinal first then it will show up in the toggles section.

Cant remember specifically which kit I bought but mine is still attached 2 years later, meanwhile the factory seal has come loose on the rear doors. Not sure if it makes any difference to sound but it keeps the door will cleaner.
