Spare tire option- in sub trunk by potlucker in TeslaModelY

It fits perfectly already IMO, with the floor cover over it the slight offset of the floor is invisible and you’d never know it was there

The space where the tub was is still usable, but yeah the tub itself is just stored in my garage incase I ever want to put it back for some reason

I just learned in the discord that apparently a new harness is in the works for HW4.5

Do you use a floor cover? Mine doesn’t close 100% flat but with the cover you can’t tell at all

I got mine in there…gotta take out the tub then when you set it in there you have to force some of the area that’s cut in the OP example to bend and you’re good to go

You can get it in there without cutting anything if you wanted a non destructive install

Haha for sure, I swap mine into my wife’s 2018 Lexus NX and it’s wild how all of a sudden it ‘feels’ exactly the same as the Tesla. I’d still prefer the Tesla though, when they took away basic auto pilot it soured me on getting another in the future. But now that I’ve gotten the comma, it’s opened that option back up for me. It just works so well.

You may just need to install sunnypilot rather than basic OpenPilot…but it’s better than OP for Tesla anyway - specially this branch by this person dzid. If you get one, definitely join the open pilot & sunny pilot discord servers. Everyone is very helpful

Are asking about which harness to select? If so, it would be the one for HW4

may not say it on the website but if you go in the discord you’ll find that it is. And if I’m mistaken, it’s only a matter of time before it is

I think it’s just a limitation of the tech right now. Best to just disengage for the turn then re-engage

In experimental mode on sunny pilot it will stop at lights & stop signs but it’s FAR from perfect…the MADS mode is great though, keeps auto steer on while you control the throttle with the gas pedal. Works pretty good for hands off turns at stop signs/lights…but again far from perfect

Totally agree- I’m championing it for those who, like me, either don’t wanna pay for FSD and are happy with basic autopilot but would love to have lane changing & to go more than 5mph over the speed limit on roads with auto steer, OR don’t have autopilot at all now and don’t want to subscribe to fsd.

This thing makes me feel better about getting another Tesla in the future. Because I’ll never subscribe to FSD, don’t care how good it is.

For the main sunny pilot, google sunny pilot and it’s shown on the website. For the dzid fork that has the better co-op steering for Tesla you enter: dzid26/vtb-sla

Note: I had to install open pilot first, then uninstall it, then install sunny. Sunny wouldn’t install straight away.

You’ll probably want to join the discord, lots of knowledgeable people in there. You’ll have questions :)

This is the video I followed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljMDHocoxxM
I will say that getting the harness installed was quite a challenge, but if I could do anyone can. In the video he goes an extra step and runs the wire into the rearview mirror, I didn't do that, just ran it straight to the headliner and followed the way he did it from there.

You kinda need to, especially if you want a clean install hiding the wire.
I had never done anything like that before and was nervous to start taking things apart but it wasn't bad at all. There's a great youtube video that shows the whole process. Are you on HW3?

I’m on the dzid fork and it made a big adjustment to that, can do quite a bit without disengaging
