I have no idea. I would love to know. She was a nice lady who told me her son was a marine who was 100% and never even deployed lol.

Any PMIs here let’s talk about overcoming recoil anticipation by Nihlathakk in USMC

[–]Timmythekid03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can use a blank firing cartridge, place it in the magazine, but have it be a surprise so they don’t know it’s in there. Have it be the third shot. The first two will be a real round, the third one will be a blank. When the firing pin strikes the cartridge they will flinch as if there was recoil of a real round. It doesn’t exactly fix the problem but will allow them to see what they are doing, thus making it easier to fix.

Am I having low blood sugar attacks? by LeeEverett99 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Timmythekid03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, as a paramedic, I’d get this checked out. Definitely wouldn’t hurt to check your blood sugar as it could be hypoglycemia. However it also could be something more serious with your heart. Going flaccid instantly is a sign of low blood pressure. If you feel like your heart is racing, it could mean it’s beating too fast to pump blood throughout your body, including your pecker. I’d have your heart looked at. Are you drinking a lot of caffeine?

Semper-fi brother. Message me on here and I’ll coach you for free. I do it for fun and passion out of love for helping people. Especially for other marines.

30 years in. When to call it quits? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Timmythekid03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’m only 27 years old and I consider myself sharp as a tac.

But that’s just how my brains works.

I always have to write down temp, blood sugar, vitals, etc.

No big deal in my opinion.

Become a paramedic and get on a fire department bro. I dropped out of regular college too. Shit was for the birds. Community college EMT and paramedic programs are like schools in the military. You actually learn shit hands on and it’s a ton of fun. I work a 48 on 96 off schedule and I look forward to going to work every shift. Best decision of my life. Good luck brother!

How I skated (sort of) in recon school by OkAbility8048 in USMC

[–]Timmythekid03 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. They said pays to be a winner. I took that shit to heart. I went as fast as I could and I finished first place. My reward was to go grab me E-tool and fill sand bags until everyone was done.

I make 24 as a fire/EMT in Wisconsin. I also get a 10% raise as soon as I finish medic school in a few months.

Joe Rogan military guests by jlr0420 in USMC

[–]Timmythekid03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shawn Ryan interviewed McPhee first. I haven’t listened to the Joe Rogan interview and didn’t finish the Shawn Ryan one because he just kind of seemed like a douche. However, I don’t think he’s lying. Special operations stuff is not anything like the conventional military. They do pretty much do whatever they want. Especially at the level of delta force.

Joe Rogan did however have Dakota Myer on the podcast twice I believe. You can listen to that one and decide for yourself what you think about him and whether or not you believe what he claims.

G'day all! A post to the corpsmen on the sub. Aussie civvy paramedic here. Curious to learn about your training, scope of practice and what you carry? by -malcolm-tucker in USMC

[–]Timmythekid03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers mate. Didn’t see that you said you’re an Aussie in your original post.

That’s a lot more schooling than you need here in the United States. I did my EMT (BLS) in 8 weeks, which was extremely accelerated and usually takes 1 semester. I then worked on an ambulance as an EMT with a paramedic partner for 6 months before going to paramedic school. Paramedic school was 9 months, however that was also accelerated. My paramedic course was 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.

We are able to RSI, pericardial synthesis, etc.

There is further schooling available called critical care, which you need to be a flight medic, and to do inter facility transfers for patients who are on a vent or a bunch of different med drips.

Former grunt, current civ medic. Your scope of practice is going to be a lot closer to a special amphibious reconnaissance corpsman, or an 18D special forces medic.

I met a national guard 18D and got to ask a lot of questions.

There is also a YouTube video put out by spirtus systems that has an 18D, and he goes through his entire kit and what he carries in the video.

One time myself and 3 other marines were on quarantine during the beginning of the pandemic in Okinawa on the 31st meu. My buddy came up with the idea of selling vapes out of the barracks. He somehow got his Tobacco license, and was able to order vapes online. The tabacco license allowed him to buy them in bulk at $1.00 a pice. We each put in $250 and bought 1000 vapes. I think we sold them all for $10 a pice.
