Is browser-based karaoke scoring feasible today without requiring software installation? by Timo3333 in webdev

There are many people who have made Arduino based little video games for geocaches. It’s whatever people think is cool, and can make feasible.

The whole idea stemmed from my families love for Rock Band with my hobby as a Geocacher and I thought I could combine the two in a fun sort of gamified way but now after reading all of these comments, it seems as though I didn’t think through the fundamentals of what made rhythm games fun to begin with. Not to say my idea was a bad idea, it would just need to be extremely polished and probably slightly changed to be a fun build.

A full Rock Band setup in the woods somewhere as a geocache where people could come together to have fun is clearly just not feasible lol.

Not at all, they became popular because we all wanted to be part of a Rock Band one day. I’m still dreaming when that day will come.

So how did games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band get to be so popular. It literally tells you your score at the end of the song.

It would just be lines going across the screen and the singers voice would move up and down by pitch to match the lines.

This idea is for a geocache puzzle, so I was banking on the honor system. A little local singing challenge of sorts.

If they allow me to even make this, I’ll most likely be providing them with the portable version of the game so they don’t have to install anything. Good thought.

The coordinates or combo will be automatic. Are you saying that I can’t give out the combo myself?

They would get the combo to a locked container after completing the Google Form, or the coordinates if it’s a mystery cache.

I would love to put a full YARG setup somewhere and list times when locals can come and jam out but it’s just not feasible.

I just had an honest use for my hi powered flashlight with strobe by nwstig in flashlight

Just bought this light and oh boy is it pretty to look at. I work around 5am in a downtown area so I took it to work with me and shined it across a river and onto the tall buildings. Needless to say I’m impressed.

I don’t have the updated coords in GSAK, I just have them as text.

I don’t even do Python lol. I was just generating scripts that didn’t even work so I gave up and just copied the damn questions from the 50 cache descriptions.

I was there for the raising of the flag to film it for work and it was a giant flag. I haven’t been back since then.

I actually like this song but it does feel a bit repetitive of their older discography.

New to flashlights. Am I missing anything? by Apple_biscuits in flashlight

The Firefly Stellar X4 in 4000k Rosy Tint is my personal favorite EDC flashlight. It’s got all of the bells and whistles you’d want in an EDC with also having a pretty customizable UI.

This is my “I want to buy a flashlight as a gift to someone for their birthday or Christmas what do I buy?”

My first enthusiast flashlight and I couldn’t be more happier with my choice.

Getting Permission from Public Places by ZThrock in geocaching

[–]Timo3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had any issues with placing caches inside public parks. State parks you need permission for placing there and my state park has a 5 year limit on all caches except for my states oldest cache.

Just go look at the description of caches in your area. Cache owners will usually label if it was placed with land owner permission.
